They only use the broom rack if the path between them is shorter/quicker than just walking.

Dont. Broom racks are probably the worst design in the game, and unless your school is beyond huge (and i mean, hugex10000) you dont need em and you are way better without em. Just use halway runners to make your mages walk faster and thats it. They also need a WHOLE ROOM to fit it, so as i said, you will need to have a school as big as a frikkin city to be able to use extra rooms for just broom racks. Its ridiculous.

Until the devs realize broom racks is a stupidity like a temple (so, never unfortunately), nothing we can do about it. Devs dont have the imagination or will to redesing it i guess, they are very busy working on idiotic update after update.

Huh? Broom racks need a two-tile wide space (which has to run the whole depth of the room, so they can't go in front of windows or whatever), and they can go inside rooms with other functions as long as the room type doesn't require "private". If you have a tall building, they're faster than climbing multiple flights of stairs.

They are three tiles wide, not two, but I agree with the rest of your statement. And you can build them ouside. I want to test out if it is worth to build just a fundament and a broomrack co get faster to the resources like runewood or trapdoorvines. Probably not worth it, because greenhouses tops collecting resources in the later game.

It's definitely worth it to build a broom rack far out in the wilds so your mages could spend a significantly less time going to and getting back from those crystal battles whenever you push back the fog. Now that there's more need for smokepearls, having your students pick up the pearls mined from those crystals at the edge of fog would also be faster than the quilted carriers, since quilted can't use the broom rack.
Another plus would be that you can now also hunt the rats that would usually be too far from your school.

Yup i imagined all the blocked users i have will post nonsense to justify a badly design in-game. No surprise there. Broom racks, like many many many many other gameplay mechanics are designed by monkeys and of course, there needs to be always someone to justify it instead asking for a re-design or just stating the truth plain sight. We asked for portals, that will take just one tile at most and will be way more useful than this that makes zero sense. Also no, mages dont use brooms, that for starters thats a witch thing. But what can you expect with such a terrrible developer team surrounded by a childish reddit based community.... never used broom racks in almost a hundred of runs, never ever needed one because there is just not justification to build em, period. But i guess people cant see it because most of you come from discord. The worst social platform ever created.

some people just need to shut up

I like broom racks and they are saving my mages a considerable amount of time they would otherwise spend walking

I get Nem's point that the fantasy of Flying Brooms is more often with hedge-witch than with high-magick. And that maybe a portal would have been closer to the theme.

But I'll never understand the rest of that pointless vitriol.
If the game's that bad and the devs are that bad and the community is that bad ... why on earth anyone would spend so much energy in it completely escapes me. The games/communities that I think are terrible are generally ones I avoiding spending my time and energy on.
Yes, I know it's their standard post, and they've been like this for a while, but I do find myself feeling sorry for them.

You may like Harry Potter or not, but you can't deny it had a considerable impact on our image of wizzards and the first book is older than a quater of a century. Wizzards are not only Gandalf anymore. Tempus fugit.

That's a fair point. I didn't even think of HP. I was thinking of the kind of 'witches' one sees on Halloween decoration, vs magi/wizards from more than Tolkein.

I can't think of any other Wizard that rides a broomstick outside the HP franchise. But then, I didn't remember HP, either. :)

HP alone is probably enough to justify it here, but now I'm curious for others. Do you know of any wizards outside HP that ride brooms?

I am not aware of any but I am not that in touch. I guess if there are any other wizzards, they are probably HP inspired.

There are plenty of examples of witches riding brooms in mythology - it goes back long before the wiz of oz. :) Can you think of any -wizards- (outside of Harry Potter) that ride brooms?

You can like broom racks all you want, that has nothing to do with the fact that its an awful design , period. And again, broom racks in this game have zero sense at all. But yup all the kids love em, of course because this game is a game focused to kids at this point.
