Placement of rooftop decorations

Do the rooftop decorations have to be placed on the, what's it called, crest? The very center top of the roof I mean?

I don't think so; IIRC, they just have to be on the section of roof that corresponds to that specific room.

It somehow didn't accept that. Maybe they where on the roof but atop the wall and that doesn't count?

basically yes - it needs to be on the roof.. but over the "floor" of the room.
