Event question (possible spoiler)
So I just got this notification: "The Fog laughs mockingly: The Fog seems to gloat about its recent victories, but it doesn't seem to be doing any harm... for now."

Has anyone seen this before? What does it mean? I lost a battle to a Rancor Crystal, so I'm assuming that's what triggered it, but like... this is very menacing lmao

It's not tied to anything that I've noticed. It just seems to be a random event to add flavor. I've only played the relaxed difficulty though

Hmm, maybe it was a coincidence that I'd just lost a battle then. When in the game did you see it? I've now realized that I think it only started happening past day 100, so I'm wondering if it's related to time survived.

It's not. I seem to get it all the time even if I've never lost a fight. All I can tell is that it serves the annoying purpose of pausing the game and cluttering my notifications -_-; There's no option to not pause for it either in the options as far as I can tell.
I've gotten the event before 100 days. The fog is just a troll :steamhappy:
There is a tab in the options menu to disable the auto-pause notifications..
There are a number of settings in the new difficulty screen that suggest an adaptive difficulty like the storytellers in Rimworld. I suspect it's just reporting on how the game sees your performance and indicating an adjustment to scaling.

I figured it out! If you uncheck the box to auto-pause on "Reprieves" the game won't pause on this event. So I think @Othobrithol is right and it's the game's way of telling you it's giving you a bit of a break from events.
The auto pause feature is good as long as you can deactivate it in specific events. For example, i have it activated when a voidshroom is created (i have one room for the purpose) so i can quickly click the notifcation and set the priority of harvest to top.

Althou i still dont understand why the devs at this point didnt add auto top-priority when harvesting voidshrooms. I really dont. The auto pause notification in this case is useful, but way more useful will be to not need to set top priority to voidshrooms every frikkin time.
