Can't Hold Funeral

I have a deceased student but can't hold a funeral.

(1) I built a modest grave.
(2) It says allow all, and I even tried assigning the student to the grave (it doesn't work with or without).
(3) I made sure all areas around the grave are clear.
(4) No funeral ritual appears on the grave which is odd to me as I saw one with the last student who died.
(5) The funeral ritual does appear in the ritual book, but when I assign the speaker and mourners, the "Begin Ritual" button remains greyed out with no tool tip on hover.
(6) Last time that happened (the grey begin ritual) I got a notice that my grave couldn't be damaged. So I repaired it. This time it isn't damaged.

Not sure what else I should do.

Has the student's body been buried in the grave, or is it still lying on the ground near where they died? Until the body has been delivered/buried, there is not option to hold the funeral.

It's still lying on the ground. I guess it's just prioritization that they weren't burying it! Thank you.
