And:
1. Plants need sleep too... Thus in reality many plants will experience stunted growth and even death of plant tissue if they receive light 24/7.
2. There is a Woodcuttery for increased tree growth, thus a Greenhouse room do make sense. I've been wanting a Gardener's workbench that will let us set up harvesting orders that would auto-assign and unassign nearby plants for harvesting (e.g. do x times, do until x, etc.) and that would fit well as a room requirement object for a Greebhouse.
3. Would be nice, but that would take away from the need for a scarecroa.
2. A greenhouse would have to have a drawback, not a boon, since you're protecting it from other plants, and ensuring a constant supply of particular plants. Right now, that drawback is a 100% light cap, and that's okay, but still far more efficient than harvesting in the wild.
An outdoor garden, (or a rooftop garden) is still the most efficient strategy, but I doubt the croa are going to be interested in JUST bitter rice for much longer.
3. That would be broken. Part of the game is supposed to be about keeping the threat of the fog away, which is even easier to do when all of your food is grown inside. Not that you need many rice plots right now anyway. I can feed a whole school just fine with like 12.
The scarecroa don't work very well. One charge for one hour of fear and they're right back to eating the rice again. I find it far more efficient to just kill them, destroy the corpse, and pillage the nest. If they come back, keep killing them until they learn.

The trick is adding enough windows to get over 100% light. on the lower floor (same setup than the upper floor just without roof) I got like 480% growth rate if nature powered, therefore +180% growth rate by additional light.
This works for all plants that are planted in a pot.
For light per slot, the large arched window is the best, followed by the small round one (way earlier within the research tree).
Well, point for you. Still it fulfills the role of a greenhouse to some degree.
I have a floor at exactly 20 blocks high that does not cause shade, but one at 12 that does.
They have already said they are capping in room 'greenhouse' lighting at 100%
Well, that isn't exactly unexpected, but that information hasn't reached me until now. In that case, an "accepted" greenhouse would be useful.
