Spectral croa

How do you deal with these damn specters? I have 4 traps outside the front doors right now and nothing seems to kill them, they attack only at night when everyone is asleep leading to constant repair jobs needing to be done.

They appear when you have a corpse of a Croa lying around. You need to research in the dark tree to get eyes or brains. Then you can set the Midden Jelly to process the corpses into eyes or brains. This gets rid of them so the spectrals stop appearing.

If you don't have the midden jelly stuff ready, you can also simply mark the corpses for destruction to get rid of them more quickly.

What I do is look at the list of active nests in the animals list. I quickly destroy any nests and then kill any active croa, then destroy their bodies. It eliminates 2 annoyances by doing this.

As others have said, kill them, then destroy the body if refining them into parts hasn't been unlocked yet. I wouldn't destroy the nests, though, as they are source of materials. Once you have a scarecroa researched and built, you can set your founder ghost to refill its ward charge as a critical priority task. it will keep them at bay until morning when your teachers can hunt them with ease.

Aside from everything mentioned here, I have several staff scheduled staggered so that there's always someone awake to deal with issues. It also means that no one misses a meal because the dining hall is too small for everyone who wants to use it. Making sure the fire staffer is awake during peak spectral croa made life so much easier.

I know this is an old post, but does this "animal list" still exist? If so, where is it accessed? I'm not finding it in the menu bar or the hotkeys, but maybe I'm just overlooking something obvious.
