Lightning rod range
Anyone know the range of the lightning rod and how best to place it? Does it have to go on the roof or can you put it on the ground outside, etc.?

uggh, so either the range is ridiculously short or it only applies to the exact roof it is on. Hating this feature now, that's just tedious :(

I haven't been able to play in a few days so haven't gotten a chance to test it myself, but based on your image, that's pretty bad.

the lightning rod mechanic isn't very clear.

I placed three lightning rods, one on top of each of three adjacent room. Only one of them got hit, and got hit repeatedly throughout the storm. The only other rooms to be hit were further out and at a much different height.

The difference being I placed the rod on the peak of the roof (like you would in real life).

In another tower, I paced a rod like you did in your picture, on the side slope; the same roof got hit on the other side of the peak.

I'm not sure what the rules for it are, but it's not useless. I've placed one on the peak of each room without something above it, or else on an exposed portion of room and I don't suffer any damage in storms.

i think its extremely short and needs to be buffed. My school looks like a power plant because i put lightning rod every 3 space -_-

Continuing with the storm almost like mocking me and my joke of a rod the lightning struck 4 more times to that same exact spot, totalling to 2 roof strikes and 3 on floors under them :meepyikes: all the other rooms on that roof were empty and unused, sigh, but it just had to obliterate my House commons room.. I wonder is it totally random or are there some targeting mechanism based on room values?

It only affects the building they are built in. No other near buildings. Thats the way it works for me.

Wellll I just got a second storm, lightning managed to hit 7 blocks away from a rod on the same roof and building. Think I counted at least 12 strikes this time, all over my school and couple hits on the rods

I guess I'll go build 15 more lightning rods now -_-

Thats weird. You should need only one rod per room to stop lightning strikes. Unless that roof is huge, then im not sure. I put one rod in each roof and lightning strikes never hit.

It's the same House Commons room I mentioned earlier that the lightning just wants to obliterate, I also got multiple hits on my Bedchamber next to it which I built after my earlier post, and not a single hit on the rest of the top buildings (still empty and low value), which makes me think even more that room value has some effect - or it just hates me

oh yeah and the House commons room is 21 wide so it is kinda big but that's not a large range really with the rod on the center
