Side chimney for kitchen
I'm trying to build a kitchen between two floors and I built a side chimney on the outer wall since there's no roof above it, but the room is still a normal one. Am I doing something wrong?

Maybe try to add a Dragon Wok to your kitchen room?

Spice racks, luxury?

Floor still counts as a roof. Not sure if that's your issue. If you can see the background behind the chimneys, then you did it right. If you see a brick wall, then they are in a room. One thing I did to make the Kitchen in the middle of the school is to make a smaller area next door. I did it with a single tile and then cut into the next room, but you can also do it 3 wide. Put a low roof in that smaller area and then make the chimneys be above that tiny roof. As long as you don't cap off that little area, you're fine. My floor above that was held up with floor supports all the way across, so it was still outside.

Hope I explained it well enough.

I have the same issue. I have everything for room to be a kitchen, except chimney. And no matter how I build Side chimney on outer wall of this room - it does not convert it to Kitchen.

Maybe someone has an example/picture of working kitchen with side chimney?

Kitchen does not need Dragon Wok, Fine kitchen does. And it is farther in research tree than chimneys and locked behind scrolls. Would be very strange if chimneys required Dragon Wok to work.

Sorry about that. Something in my gameplay made me think Dragon Wok is needed for Kitchen.

Anyway, here is the screenshot of my kitchen, using Side Chimneys. I just realised I can't have Gruel Pot in my Fine Kitchen so I needed to build another Kitchen lol

Yup, it was luxury. Didn't notice the room needed more, sorry :steamfacepalm:

Thanks for the idea! I'll try it out if I run out of space.

My problem was actually with filth. It removes luxury and Kitchen always has a lot of it. So despite enough raw luxury - room does not converts to Kitchen. As soon as I added few carpets to negate filth debuff - I got Kitchen with Side chimney.
