initial graduates
Am i missing something at the start in terms of how to run the school?

I've got 6 students + the 4 teachers all from the initial intake who have all learned everything they can learn (have the gold star) but, haven't reached the point where I can make a Hall to run a graduation ritual or promote them to staff.

Is it just a case of running undercity rooms / wait for healing / repeat until you get enough research done to unlock more of the research or did i miss a way to cycle the early graduates through earlier ?

You don't need all that much to get a Hall established, especially since you can get lucky and get small decorative items like rugs from the fog crystal things. However, I would suggest you go easy on combat until you have done the most basic tier of research topics and built up a reasonably productive and comfortable environment. Once the other student species start to show up in the recruitment pool, it gets a lot harder to keep them happy, so it helps to make sure you have a good infrastructure setup first.

You don't need much of anything other than the ritual circle to start the cycling.

As you hire more staff the requirements become more taxing, needing an assembly hall, a great hall, adept scrolls, and savant scrolls at a certain point. So you have to manage retiring existing staff and replacing them with newly hired students to keep the costs manageable until you can start producing tier 2 wands (to start getting savant scrolls) and upgrading your ritual hall into an assembly hall or great hall to access more staffing slots.

If you're to where you can only have four staff, just focus on the elements whose jobs you feel like you use a lot. I'd recommend fire (cooking and hunting), nature (gardening), lightning (research), and either earth or water. Fill in as you get access to more slots.

You're not supposed to hang on to staff or students, especially in the early game. They are there to fulfill a function until you need to graduate or retire them for scrolls.

Thank you, it was just/is just an issue with what you pick for your initial researches. Its very slow at the start when it isn't clear what you need some of the items for but, i've got people graduating now no problem.

I'm having a problem performing the ritual 'graduate with honours'. It's not giving me the chance to place a student although they have both fully trained and all quests completed. The room is an auditorium.

Any help ???

If I remember numbers correctly - the student need 13 total skill points to be able to graduate with honours. Also you can check the mood tab - if the student meet the requirements he get +2 moodlet with corresponding name.

Most of the time, a level 1 wand won't allow graduating with honors (Or emeritus retirement), though maybe with just the right medallions it could. A level 2 wand I think always will?
