How to build floor on ground?

I've been struggling trying to expand my base cause i cant build any floor on the ground.. how do you destroy the dirt? or how are you able to build floor idk I tried everything lol

You dont until (much) later in the game, where you can research the tech to expand foundations. Until then its up, up, up

Use the foundation. Research - Domesticated Gutberries - Hardy Foliage - A Little Support - Support All The Way Down - Going Places.

As you discover more of the underschool, you’ll find some of the rooms are also available for you to build in and they all seem to be considered “Grounded”

oh thanks.. I'm gonna have to restart again lol I was running out of space and couldnt keep my wizards happy.(most of them ded)

I guess there is no reason to restart you always can summon some new wizards and the starting wizards are actually crap with only two bages. You can get some powerful wizards pretty quick. Just grab some wolfs at the start - they eat live rats and sleep on the floor.
