[Bug] inventory and menu not working (minor spoilers)
MINOR SPOILERS

I have started to play this game and ran into one bug I would like to report.
its like after the first text based scenario where you get a 2D world. You get the option to open the inventory with tab and the menu with ESC.

The bug I found:
After some exploring I went to the north to get into the boat but didn't had the paddle. I got a "cutscene" and got out of the boat again. I tried to open the inventory and menu but both weren't working. After I re-entered the world by going in and out of the house I was able again to use the inventory and the menu

Same issue but I had no workaround for:
After I headed to the north to the village and did some quests I got the cutscene with a "slenderman" type of creature which grabs you at the end. After that cutscene I wasn't able to open the inventory or the menu again. I tried to re-enter the world again by using the tiny house but it didn't help. I needed to completely restart the game.

I hope it is kind of useful for reproducing it.
Apart form that I'm happy to got the Buddy Simulator! Thank you so much for it!

YES thank you for this post! We've been scrambling to discover how to replicate this! Brandon, our coder, is currently trying to focus on school again, but I'll be sure to refer him to this post when we're trying to fix things! Thank you so much dude!
I'm having a similar issue at the beginning of the 1-bit section.

Issue I'm encountering contains spoilers:

The menu works fine in the house and around the northern part of the map, but once I approach the southern portion the ability to use the menu (and therefore dig) stops working. There doesn't appear to be a specific place where this happens. The Escape button doesn't react either. Going back to the house or inside the cave restores them for a bit, but not long enough to actually dig up the object.

Nothing worse than trying to track down a bug that only some people seem to experience, I feel for you and your programmer(s). Frustrating for everyone! Thanks.

Have the same issue. I must always restart. Unfortunately not playable for me :(

I can further document the bug ... in the southernmost part of the map (south of the house), there is an object that looks like a sparkling or glowing plant in the middle of the path. If the player touches this, the tab (and ESC) buttons will cease working until the player re-enters the house.

Don't step on/near this plant, and (hopefully) the bug will not trigger. I learned this after multiple attempts to dig it up with the shovel.

Edit - Just to clarify, this is in the earliest part of the game, when everything is black-and-white.

I'm having the same exact problem as Djinn

For the time being, the workaround is to avoid the object I described. Presumably, there's something buried there, but whatever it is, the object is not needed to complete the game.

I had this happen to me after entering Bean's house in the town and Getting the weird monster cut scene. I let my game be idle for a bit while I searched for a fix. and then when I went back to the game, Buddy asks if everything is okay and that I've just been standing there. After this dialogue, the ESC and Inventory began working again.
