Thanks for looking into this!
In case it means anything to the devs or anyone else who runs into this: I tried this again tonight and hit the same issue with the door knocking continuously and not being able to move, and I alt-tabbed and opened up Task Manager. The game wasn't appearing in the simple view as a running app, but when I went to the detailed processes list I saw two processes running Buddy Simulator 1984, where one of them had something that was described as some kind of crash handling process associated with it. Coincidentally, I tabbed back over to the game, and the hand icon was back, allowing me to open the door, encounter Scroobert, and from there complete the ending. I don't know if tabbing out actually solved the issue or if it was just a coincidence, but there it is.
I also noticed that the same sort of thing where the game takes away your ability to move happens when you answer the door and get the initial dialog from each character, so my guess is that something is flagging this to happen at the wrong time.
Also kudos on the ending itself. I knew basically what was coming, but I still felt a panicked adrenaline rush during the chase sequence.
