So, I finished all the endings, got all the achievements, and found all the glitches. I wanted to hear other people's thoughts on what it all means.

What I got from the glitches is that this game was created for Owen by his dying, alcoholic father. Owen's parents had a divorce, probably because of the father's alcoholism. It seems that he lived with his mother, at least most of the time, so the father had to send letters to communicate. He left letters for Owen to find in the game through the glitches. The father was also dying of cancer, and made the video game for his son to give him something to remember him by, and to atone for his past mistakes.

And in case you haven't read all the glitches, the reason your character is a ghost is because it was Owen's favorite Halloween costume. And the reason the game is so fixated on strawberry popsicles is because they were also his favorite. The Timmy Quick figurine in the game is based on a figurine he lost in real life that his father found. Apple juice is what the father calls his alcohol in real life. And Owen obviously had a dog named Milo.

Also, I'm pretty sure the tall figure you see every now and then when the game breaks is your buddy.

But how did the father's game turn into the one we're playing? Where does your buddy come into play? The way the game breaks gives me the impression that the father's game was repurposed into the one we're playing for some reason or another. If that's the case, why? And by who? And why is it now controlled by an unstable AI?

Perhaps there was a domestic incident involving the father's alcoholism? That could be why Owen ended up with his mother.
