Have you tried moving around with WASD or arrow keys to see if that works? If it doesn't, would you happen to remember if you pressed anything going into the 3D scene?
Thanks,
Josh

Yep, I tried the WASD keys and the arrow keys. I also switched from my weird ergonomic joystick-style mouse to a regular mouse (and even a gamepad for good measure). Result: I'm still stuck in place. I can pivot around and look at the clock, the nightstand, the bed, the window, and part of the dresser. These all produce the eyeball icon when hovered over and a little message from my buddy appears when clicked on. The window and dresser, strangely enough, produce the same message as the bed, about being cozy at the end of a long day. No other buttons or input have any effect at all. The only way to end the game is by forcing it to quit using Ctrl-Alt-Del. I reloaded it several times and it's always the same.
I don't recall pressing anything odd just before I reached this level, but it's possible. I've been known to do such things. :)
Thanks again, I'm really enjoying the game and appreciate your willingness to help.
The first is a hotkey that refreshes the scene. Try pressing Right Shift + Home on your keyboard and seeing if this changes anything. If this doesn't work, are you using a foreign keyboard by chance? If so, make sure you're using English settings on your keyboard!
Let me know if any of these work! Thanks for your report--I hope you're able to finish the game soon, you're so close
By always facing straight, I can go downstairs and look at the painting, but then I'm unable to pickup any item on the floor.
I've tried Shift+Home, as well as restarting the game, with no luck.
Are there keyboard options available, to look around?
My setup may indeed be unusual, as I am playing on "Shadow PC", i.e. remotely on a cloud gaming PC. I'm accessing Shadow PC from a laptop with a USB mouse. I can try resuming the game from an actual physical machine, but it seems cloud saves are not available for this title - could you point me to the save game files location?
I should also mention that the in-game mouse cursor is both visible and working perfectly when I launch the title (the black&white terminal where you would normally have to type in the 'Run' command). There's a mouse cursor there, that I can move around just fine. Mouse support only breaks when leaving the terminal and entering the bedroom section (well, only moving the mouse break. Left clicking is still recognized properly).
Now onto the potential solution. Somewhere in your Registry Editor (I'm so sorry that I can't point you to the exact location, the both of us are on vacation and away from our computers aaaahhh), there's a Not a Sailor folder filled with the game's save data. I believe if you relocate the folder into the exact same spot into another computer after installing Buddy Sim, you should be able to retrieve the data... I think... If you try this, please keep me posted.
For future readers of this thread, the save game data is in the following registry entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Not a Sailor Studios, which may be saved as a .reg file and imported on another computer (remains to be tested).
I ended up going another way, however: on a physical computer, I launched Steam, and instead of installing Buddy Simulator there, I chose the "Stream" feature to stream the game from my remote PC. That worked just fine :-)
Enjoy your time off!
