Beacon Pines FAQs
How long is a playthrough of Beacon Pines?
Depending on play style, approximately 5-7 hours.

Does the save file from the demo carry over?
No, because of differences in the development branches, save files from the demo version of Beacon Pines do not carry over into the full game. The release version of Beacon Pines must be started from the beginning.

Is Beacon Pines replayable?
Because of the way the game is structured around moving back and forth in the events of the story, a player should be able to see all of the “branches” and endings of the game without having to start over from the beginning.

Will the game be localized in additional languages?
While we have no immediate plans to announce currently, it is something we’re looking into and we would love to bring Beacon Pines to more audiences in the future if possible.

Are content warnings available?
A list of content warnings is available on our info sheet here [drive.google.com].

Who is the developer?
Beacon Pines is developed by Hiding Spot Games[hidingspotgames.com], a small team that includes creative director, programmer, composer and co-writer Matt Meyer; co-designer and lead artist Ilse Harting; and co-designer and co-writer Brent Calhoun.

Who voices the narrator?
The narrator in Beacon Pines is voiced by Kirsten Mize.

Is the soundtrack available for purchase?
Yes! You can find the Beacon Pines soundtrack on Steam as well as on Matt’s Bandcamp page[mattmeyer.bandcamp.com].

Is more art from the game available?
Yes, you can find the official artbook available here on Steam. You can find Ilse’s non-Beacon Pines art at http://www.ilseharting.net.

Where should bugs be reported?
You can report bugs in this thread .

Is there auto-save?
Yes, the game will save automatically for you.

Will there be merchandise?
If the game does well enough, and there is enough demand, we'd love to do plushies and other fun merch.

How do I manually set the game resolution?
If the in-game settings don't support the resolution you want, you can set the launch options by going to your Steam library, right-clicking on Beacon Pines, selecting "Properties..." and filling in the Launch Options field with your desired resolution. For example: "-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080".

Will there be a sequel?
It's hard to say at this point, but we have plenty of ideas.

Why is the text on Steam Deck blurry?

This is likely due to a Steam Deck setting called "Half Rate Shading". Try turning that off in the Performance menu.

Will it have steam trading cards in the future?

We have ideas for some Steam Points stuff, but nothing specifically planned yet.

Does the game have voice overs other than the narrator?

Is there an estimate as to when will the DLC come out?

Nope. The narrator is a distinct character in the game, and that helps distinguish it from other characters (and we're a tiny team with limited resources)

None yet, but stay tuned.

How can I change the resolution manually if I didn’t purchase this on steam? It’s stuck at a low ~1200x500 on my display (with only two other resolution option lower than that) and can’t figure out how to fix it.

If you are familiar with launching an app from the command line, then you can use the same command line options listed in the Steam custom resolution answer: "-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080". If you're not able to launch from the command line and are using Windows, then you should be able to follow these steps to set up a short cut with the above resolution options:

Is there any way to go back into a game after winning? I didn't get to use a charm and want to explore a bit more but don't want to go through the whole set of endings again quite this soon.
hidingspot  [developer] Apr 4, 2023 @ 7:37am
Hm, that depends on what you mean. After you've completed the game, you should be able to go back to any turning point and replay from there. If all you want is to go back to the epilogue, then your best bet is to replay that charm in the last turning point and explore some more while you're there.

Hrm. Ok, I must be missing something. After the game closes the book on me, I can't seem to do anything. I was hoping to be able to go to the turning points to replay, but I can't seem to get to them after the end? Is this perhaps a bug?
hidingspot  [developer] Apr 5, 2023 @ 5:00am
Once the book closes, you should be able to just hit the interact button again and see the end credits. If it doesn't let you interact then that may be a bug. I'd be happy to continue helping but it'd probably be best to move it to it's own thread at this point.

Is Natt the Narrator? :P

Is there a way to reread chapters or dialogue? Sometimes I read what characters say, proceed, then realize I didn't really absorb what they said. My own fault I know, so I'm just curious if there's a feature.
