What happened ?

What happened ? Last time I played the game had 5 digit numbers. I stopped playing because of early access issues. The Starship Trooper Lore was tasty. Why are we just at 500 players ? Seems like an out of Early Access should have seen a huge a mount of players returning to play the game... I'm really surprised that the game is not at at least 5,000 player count.
