It doesn't matter and you missed the point, Diablo does the same and so does Path of Exiles. It keeps the game fresh as long it's: A) fun B) introducing fun new content.
Everyone going back to stock rifles will not be fun. Especially when a dozen plasmas are bombarding the base and your team is struggling just to hold off the waves of warriors.
Horde will be unwinnable for a while. Agni Prime will be awful with very limited capacity to fight inferno bugs.
Because of seasons and Starship Troopers hasn´t got that and it´s currently not planned.
Also hack & slash comparing with an ego shooter game .... hmmmmm
You're either being purposely intellectually dishonest or you're projecting hurt on this game for some reason.
The crux of the argument were character resets.
A reason to start fresh again with a new character or skills reset evens the playing fields especially when there's a big update like this with class tree / reworks. Not have everything handed to you like you keep wanting to imply, that makes it not fun, and I'd bet you'd quit after a week maybe two tops if nobody called you out.
You realize that guy was one of the first to reach career level 100 no? He has 7x the amount of hours in this game than you do.
Second, of owi just threw all of the class xp into a pool that early access players could spend on the new classes, that would placate 99.99% of people. They could go forth with their class rework but not wipe out the time people invested.
Plenty of games have done similar things. Owi only seems unwilling to do this because it costs extra money. So they're wiping massive amounts of hours because they're unwilling to spend or don't have the money for proper database migration.
You want to sugar daddy me or act as my welfare office so I can also no-life it and catch up with them in hours so that you may view my argument as valid, lemme know. It's a stupid point to make if hours invested is a determining factor because I can also sit in the game afk and it would still count towards "hours played".
As for your database "expertise", I learned what I needed for a personal project in mySQL which included migrating databases. It's not hard and looking at google clouds quote for data migration costs it's around $2/gig...I think you're grossly overestimating how big those files are and under estimating how much they store. The game will likely hit a million players on that list before they even reach a gig.

I don't know maybe if you can provide some legit proof on this front to counter and i'll relent, but until then it's another ignorant statement.
Baby want everything on a silver plate that really only need a week at best to have most good stuffs back.
You literally insulted that player as if he put no time into the game. Do you realize just how insane you look right now? He was one of the first players to make it to career rank 100. You can't do that sitting in the game AFK. Seriously, think before you post.
OWI claimed it was the reason they couldn't migrate, because it was "too complex." Which is obviously kind of hilarious given how complex pension databases are and how they migrate between platforms and new systems. Which again is why I've long argued they're being cheap about it.
Your link appears just to be migration of data and storage. Actually moving between different engines and APIs can be a pain, but the idea that SalesForce or Oracle couldn't do it is laughable. The database migration can be done, as there's no way that OWI's database is more complex that a pension manager who has hundreds of thousands if not millions of beneficiaries, both employee and familial, along with literally decades of their employment and payment data. The whole "complex" argument is IMO a cover for them not wanting to spend the money.
Your experience points are not worth them shoveling out cash for it.
The fact you think it is, I’ll admit, is very odd to me.
I spent $25 for nearly 60 hours play, less cost than lunch for my family, the game has been fine, improving, but some of the user base do not, & are still whinging about their XP.. The Game WE signed up for, a Pre-Release Test, it is written in the sign up that Things may Change, crying like a baby about XP loss is Silly & Futile ..
Get over it ...
