Outside from a one specific niche case, I just let people handle it whichever way.
Edit: On cost efficiency, it's just 500 vs 400 for 2 walls, you're mostly paying that 100 for that 50% extra HP.
When that large gate does finally go down, it can be rebuilt in 1 second. Basically means can rebuild a huge section of the fort "instantly" with much more area to choose where to do this action.
That can be a huge game changer compared to the individual walls which will each take 1 second to rebuild plus run time to get to them in infested areas with bugs still pouring through the other busted sections.
You can build ramp wall at the same spot you put down large gate;
Don't know why but you can build ramp wall inside the gate part, and it works like 2 walls with a ramp in the canter.
Now we'z just need sum red paint an' it'll go fastah! Come on you grotz, you'z wanna live ferevah?!
