Can you play with randoms?

Actual question, cause I'm really interested in this game, but no solo option with bots, makes me question the purchase.
Can you play with random people or if you have no friends to play with, you are doomed?

I play with random guys.. and its going well ! with bad luck you have in 10 games , 1 game with rly bad gamer s and it wents wrong.. but most times i played, it was insane fun.. and random guys ;-)

This is funny, I was thinking this too. Its a fun game and it has incredible potential but you need friends. Otherwise people tackle the objectives in ones or twoes. If people do approach objectives enmasse, its executed in a mindless way with minimal to no communication. At that point, you're not unlike the mindless drones you're shooting, simply following the herds momentum. Nobody talks, I'm shy myself and try to break the ice but nobody replies. Its frustrating. I probably would have refunded this if I didn't enjoy the franchise so much. We'll see. I've only played one game where randoms communicated AND coordinated. Squads stuck together, they tackled objectives together, it was beautiful to see.

Its a shame its not a more frequent occurrence. This reminds why I predominantly play singleplayer games.

There is no solo or bots. Its a pure multiplayer experience. Most people will play with randoms since having 15 other people to play with is unlikely.

You can. I ABSOLUTELY understand your hesitance.

However we don't have a full genre for Large Co-op yet, so this is all new for some gamers. Yes we've had some great games with mods and large PvP. But this IS different as a base game. You can function with Randos, but it is best if at least people know how to use the Map and Ping Systems and understand that we are ALL part of the SAME GROUP. Anyone can work on any objective regardless of Fireteams.

Mic/Headset is good for at least listening. Most rounds with a little Comms isn't bad. I myself have been trying to be better switching to local (proximity chat) and Team (All) to not clog Team with needless chatter.

The most important thing is to remember to have FUN with people. Try to help each other, stick together, and move with the people around. I commonly, on team channel, will say: "Heading to Bravo Blue, [giving Direction from HQ], for anyone that wants to rally and head out from HQ with us." I usually get 3-8 players that may tag along with no comms response. But then on the field may hear a bit more chatter in local. If everything goes bad, just try to role with it. Pick up your buddies, try to survive together. We will all be back for the next missions. And many ore! No great loss.

Just a little bit of Comms can help tremendously! Just a tiny bit of call-out for Objective runs. We're all strangers together. Don't be afraid to try or at least listen to other people trying.

Remember it is gaming, and the net... "Results may Vary" but with a little teamwork people have a lot of fun and open up. You'll meet some folks that are great. I have added a number of people to my list from this game (funny enough, lots of other adult gamers as we all grew up with the movie!). However I never try to max out our group at 16. I like a few, and we don't even always group together because we don't need to. But also I like room in the server for the variation in groups and meeting new players. Helping out.

What can you do in the game if nobody is playing it? if the game is dead does that mean its unplayable?

I have barely any computer friends these days (seriously, I have like 6, 2 of them are on Steam and only one of them is ever on), so I'm pretty much always playing with randoms. It's pretty fun though, and most people are cool. I even added somebody that I kept running into during random plays and now we're buds.

Oh yeah, most of the community interactions have been great and pretty funny. Just rewatch the OG movie and youll get the idea.
