Devs stated they want to finish this game in a year but given what they want to do, the timeline they presented, and the utter lack of communication besides like 4 irrelevant posts mostly about bugs this is seeming to be more and more of a cash grab - game obviously doesn't deserve the score it has on the store page but the I:P carries it.
They didn't even fix the servers closing after 1 week which is a genuine and frequent issue on ARC Veteran and have only had 2 minor bug fix patches without even fixing some of the biggest bugs making me think there's a lot of technical debt behind the scenes and given them selling this game in China with no servers it makes me question what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on. It's not looking good for OWI
The game needs to be balanced for fun, not balanced for the sake of balance. Currently it has way too many issues that make the game unfun for people like how broken Ops are, how long it takes to level Bastion, and all the bad perks Hunter's get
What are you even talking about? OWI's main game they released is Squad and it's been getting updates for years. It just got a new update 4 days ago, and is still one of the best FPS games on PC to date.
Bastion still have locked utility , he may have ammo box later .
And assuming he got XP boost , someone will complain about other class have lower XP gain .
Now i am at lv20 , not like i need to grind more XP now .
But having more firepowers and weapons is fun .
Oh, and they totally broke their promise about not adding microtransactions. The only reason they started working on the game again was because of the spike in the playerbase, and because Tencent/Vlad told them to. If it wasn't for the microtransaction plan that Ten Cent and OWI's new mobile game CEO came up with, we probably never would have gotten ANY updates. Oh, and they've also abandoned their other games, which are developed by contractors: Post Scriptum, and now Beyond the Wire.
But "Oooooooh, 'what are you talking about they're putting out updates now'.." Gee, Billy, only after 2 whole years of radio silence and "GFYS".
So yeah, go ahead and spend your hard earned money and buy their game. See how long they keep working on it for. Once the initial hype goes down and the player base dwindles, you'll be looking at abandonware. OWI has no problem stopping development on a game that isn't selling copies or microtransactions, and they have no problem going back on their promises. That's the ethics you're dealing with when it comes to this company. You'll probably get a year's worth of updates, maybe a little more if there's still a sizeable playerbase, before the game comes to a grinding halt. This is not OWI's frontrunner game. The OWI team is now split and spread thin working between Starship and Squad... Which do you think they're going to prioritize? They can barely handle Squad updates in a timely fashion. This game feels like a cheap pump and dump that clearly reuses assets from the already existing Starship Troopers mod on Squad. Really, the answer to whether this game will survive or not depends on if the peak population stays above 10k or not. If it doesn't, well "GFYS", kick rocks, we're abandoning the road map yet again for our next project that will fail.
Starship Troopers just launched. The bulk of the reviews that are positive all come from nostalgic players who have less than 5 hours in the game. They'll put in their <50 hours, then get tired of it because it's a shallow coop experience with honestly very little to offer beyond the first 10 hours. Expect players to jump ship and hop on the next bandwagon, then we can have a serious conversation about this game's future.
We oldschool OWI-game veterans know a thing or two, because we've seen a thing or two. Don't question us.
indeed. Balance is for PVP, not PVE.
I thought the whole POINT of fighting the bugs was to be as OP as possible so as to try and survive. I get that so many want to be 'normal' humans fighting the endless horde of bugs but that generally just makes said bugs have a free lunch.
Mobile Infantry are NOT normal humans. Normal (sane!) humans would flee in terror at the sight of a swarm heading for them, pointless as running is from such. MI have the best (cheapest!) gear and training (brainwashing!) the Federation can afford. They are SUPPOSED to be the best.
Are they? We shall see.
