Has anyone played or tested the game yet? Are there games out there that are similar to this one? I really hope this is a good game...

Horde game FPS against bugs with building components and coop...that is a tough combo to find...I really can't think of any that wasn't a zombie title, hasn't come out yet, or isn't good.

Other options...

EDF series is the closest for an FPS title

Deep Rock Galactic is dwarves in caves vrs bugs

Helldivers is a top down shooter and more similar to the book than movie

Red solstice is a top down and isn't focused on bug killing, more like starcraft/zombies, has a xcom style campaign (controls are more diablo like than fps)

Fallout 76 gets tons a hate, but it does have coop building bugs and power armor

Infested Planet is sorta RTS-like, short game but fun, more like the book Armor than SST.

Darktide was mentioned, that is a Warhammer 40k game vrs Nurgle (plague monsters and zombies), awesome gameplay but completely lacking in maps and story

Warframe...is space ninjas in a large variety of biomech exo suites, multiple gamemodes, has a campaign, lots of replay-ability, free game

Risk of Rain 2 is a 3rd person rogue-lite horde arena game...its a game you turn your brain off and blow ♥♥♥♥ up till it kills you, has tons of unique unlocks

Natural Selection 2 is a PvP FPS/RTS of colonial marines vrs zerg, great game when it was popular unsure if it still is

There are more games of this genre than you probably think, I think its starting to get over-saturated, but I always make more room for nostalgia trips.

Anyways here's a list (restricted to FPS/TPS, objective based games):

Deep Rock Galactic I would not recommend it though. Elitest Children = Toxic Community
Left 4 Dead Series (+ Back 4 Blood)
Aliens: Fireteam Elite
Contagion
Earth Defense Force Series
Killing Floor Series
Orion: Prelude
Space Hulk: Deathwing Superior to darktide IMO
Darktide
Lost Planet Series If you hated EDF but still want to kill big bugs, definitely give this a try
Payday Series
Remnant: From the Ashes
Serious Sam Series
Shadow Warrior Series
Star Wars Republic Commando
Earthfall Entirely dead now tho, it was a good attempt though
Nightmare Reaper
Holdout
Space Beast Terror Fright A personal favorite of mine

There definitely exists more but most of them add a spin that pushes it to far from the norms of the list.

Aliens Fireteam Elite is probably the one that comes close to Starship Troopers.

I don't think that's fair. The problem might be that there isn't really good indication for new players what difficulty level mission they are entering into.
Antlion Troopers Deuce , an half life 2 mod,
defending a fort against antlions and your able to place turrets where ever u want.
its a great mod !!! a Classic !!!

If you're looking for hordes of enemies in a coop, World War Z has massive waves of zombies. Not aliens or bugs and no vehicles but lots of guns and a very large number of enemies.

The gameplay footage is so similar to DRG. But for all its hype these coop shooter games are only pve and get boring pretty quickly. ST:E is priced double of DRG but has considerably worse relative graphics; things in the game just look and feel off. Doesnt offer anything much except bigger squads and the arachnids, the trooper models look fugly, no idea why theres a visor covering all their faces in the footage at least. At best its just a quick fix game for ST lovers.

or their trying for a different style of Model and game. judge a game by it own merits don't compare it to other. also we haven't played it and if you did play it as a play tester your under a NDA.
also the Visors their more a Kin to the Starship troopers Invasion and Traitor of Mars, CGI. much closer to the Book in terms of Suits and tech. but still different tone.

There are a lot of co-op shooters out there, but I think it is the 16 players on-mission at one time that is going to set this one apart

Thanks for the responses. There seems to be a consensus. The game looks very well received and lots of people play it. I hope Starship Troopers is equally as successful.

its absolutely amazing, i reluctantly purchased it because a friend insisted and oh boy was he right

id say try sanctum 2 too, its more tower defense oriented but its great coop stuff too

I suppose in a way Planetside 2 comes close, with its 12 man squads / 48 man platoons

Yep, a game Ive played a lot of over the years but definitely looking forward to the PvE aspect of this game as PvP can be REALLY annoying sometimes
