nothing to do with ww1 completely changing the way we conduct wars ect, considering up the that point, all modern wars was conducted by lining up in a field and blasting each other and then charging in with cav to rout your enemy.
and before you talk about trenches, yes they have been used before in war of Independence for example, but only as a defensive line around a strategic area. not as massive 400 plus miles long line.
