Quicker Game
Looks very interesting but trying to get away from long drawn out 4x and grand strategy games (read that it takes over 40 hours for a typical run). Can you set Millennia up for a quick game, say within 8 hours? I heard that you can start at a later age does that enable a one session play through?

You can start the game in age slots 1 (Standard), 4, 6, or 8. If you start in age slot 8, you have to play only through 3 age slots, so there should be a good chance to finish it in one session. Smaller maps increase the chance even further. Note, however, that I personally didn't try it.

The game has late game performance issues that may be quite annoying if you aren't a patient person. I believe that you still have good chances to finish it in 8 hours despite of that.

Thanks, will give this a try..
If you didn't play Millennia so far you may need a lot of extra time to get into the game, though. Many things are not self-explanatory, and some information in the tooltips and infopedia is missing. That may decrease your chances to play through the three ages in one session.
I don't mind investing time into learning a complicated game that I can enjoy eventually within the time constraints I have. I have spent too much time in the past getting to understand deep mechanics of many grand strategy and 4X games that ended up not to my liking and just taking too much time to finish.
Ok, I would be interested in your feedback on the game, even if it should be negative. Sometimes it can even be that certain properties of the game that would actually help you to like it are too 'hidden'.

Feel free to ask here if you have questions. There are some enthusiasts here who are likely to answer your questions after an averagely short time interval... that may save you some time.

There is also the gamespeed option. I prefer Faster(Normalized) for exactly the same reason and tend to finish these games (all ten ages) in about six to eight hours. Perfect for a lazy sunday.
Pure Faster is a bit too fast during the first couple ages.

Standard speed is about twelve hours, that's too unwieldy for me to schedule. Forget about slower gamespeeds.
That's awesome. Love the various initial settings for each ai and human player that can affect game play.
