Insane graphics resources usage
Greetings:

I have been checking this game for a while, and I notice it consumes an excessive amount of graphics resources for the level of graphical fidelity it delivers.

My specs:
Intel 19 10900K 5GHz, 64GB RAM
Geforce RTX 3090
Display: 2560x1440, 165Hz

As soon as I start a new game, my graphics card shows 99-100% usage all the time, and its fans start spinning so fast that my computer could very well start levitating.

I have tried to cap the FPS, force VSync, enable low latency (to cap FPS even more) using the nVidia control panel (as the game leaves a lot to be desired in terms of control over graphics settings). Capping FPS to 60, I get a consistent 45-50% GPU usage, 55-60% @75FPS...

If I uncap everything and let the graphics card go as fast as it can, I'm getting 1200+FPS in the main menu (no FPS cap in menus???), and only about 150FPS ingame.

Why is it that this game requires so much graphics muscle? An RTX 3090 should be able to play four instances of EU4 at the same time on four separate monitors at full graphics settings with no issue. Using ~50% of the graphics card at 2K 60FPS is something I cannot understand; I shouldn't be forced to reduce graphical quality in the game with this card; this game is by no means TW:W3 in terms of graphical fidelity.

I would like to know if this is something related to poor game optimization, or otherwise I'm not setting some option correctly in the nVidia control panel, or there's some kind of bottleneck somewhere else.

Apart from this, a little more control over graphical settings ingame would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello there! I am passing this on to the development team, as your setup should definently be able to play Millennia without issue.

Il update here as soon as I can!

Can you create a post about this here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/millennia.1152/

And link it to me here?

Greetings:

Thanks for the prompt response.

I have tried to do as you instructed, but I'm receiving a "Oops! We ran into some problems" response. "Your content can not be submitted. This is likely because your content is spam-like or contains inappropriate elements. Please change your content or try again later. If you still have problems, please contact an administrator."

I never used Paradox forums before; this would be my first post there...

I can't figure out in which capacity does my post qualify as "spam-like" or "inappropriate"...

Hm, can you give me your forum name?

Greetings:

Same as Steam name.

I would insist that I never used Paradox forums before. I rarely login with my Paradox accounts in games, and I avoid running the Paradox launcher as much as I can (unnecessary, cumbersome, should not exist).

I was asked to choose my forum's username just when I accessed to post this; I'm as fresh an user as I could be in that forum.

Thanks.

I created an identical post and made you the owner of it here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/insane-graphics-resources-usage.1674868/#post-29607389

I will link this to the devs, feel free to edit any new info into it, or add it as a comment.

Hope it all gets resolved!

Thank you very much.

So should I track this issue on the Paradox forum from now on? If so, I'll make sure to bring any outcome to this forum as well.
