Well, well, well. This IS easily the BEST 4X game I've ever played
And it's just out of the gate too...

Yes, I know it's not balanced.
Yes, I know there's no synchronous multiplayer.
Yes, I know there are things that need to be improved. I know that that battle viewer looks crap but my, oh my, even with all the above, this is an even better game than full Civ 6 is even at this point. You might disagree with that and all of that is true of Civ6 (apart from the battle viewer and the multiplayer of course) but let me explain.

Well, what about religion, you might object? Well, I'm not claiming that every system in Millennia is better than any that are found in Civ but rather mean that, taken together, this scores more highly overall than Civ.

As I advance to each new era and see the incredible scope this game has, I am even more impressed. New features , improvements and systems keep emerging and your cities needs become more and more sophisticated. This game has launched with more systems than pretty much any 4X game or even PDS Grand Strategy game has.

I have to say that the demo did this game a great disservice. The first three eras are pretty basic as far as the gameplay goes and of course, nobody is going to see or experience what this game really has in it later. And the artwork and the improvements all approach Civ 6 levels as you go on. It's a good-looking game.

I am just going to clap my hands and say that this is now officially the best 4X game I've ever played.

Agree this is a fantastic addition to this genre. We should encourage and support it.

I fully agree with op. Best 4x out. I have played 3 games now and none of them have been identical. One even took me to a cyberpunk future with steam planes and mechanical robot horses.

I love that we have these base systems in place that expansions will be able to leverage into something absolutely amazing.

Might be my favorit HISTORICAL themed 4x game. But not my favorit 4x game. I play alot of diffrent 4x games and it is one of my favorit styles of games. So that should tell you something. The game feels a bit raw. It does not fully have the production values of Civ 6 or Humankind. But it is sure interesting and find it great even with it flaws.

But I also will say, as someone who have played so many 4x games I am also more interested in games that are a bit novel. That explore new ideas. A game that is not like every other 4x game.

I will also say I think even with some of it flaws, it delivers pretty well on the novel concepts it has. That compare to some other novel 4x games I have played that do not really deliver that well on there ideas.

+1. Loving it.
The core is outstanding.
It needs polishing, balancing and some ai improvements. No problem to deliver that this year. The games actual state (1.0!) is so damn good.
We nearly forgot about games which dont lack content and/or offer serious bugs and issues at release (looking at you civ6…).

It's a lot of fun, I totally agree. Sure there are a lot of things that could use improving, and we can always start up the discussion about releasing games before they're 100% polished, but personally I'm really enjoying this. The new mechanics and the different ages actually kept me engaged all the way through to the end game.
The ages I didn't go down made me super curious and ready for another round, same for the National Spirits. Yeah I'm on my second full playthrough and it's been really nice.

Please keep up the patching and development and don't be discouraged by the reviews.

After first impression it could be. Right now its old word. But an easy Civ Killer for me.
Civ 6 is mainstream popcorn, not for me.

I agree that this game is very good. The game is designed extremely cleverly. Growth feels very organic and based around the character of your civilization. Crisis ages present really interesting challenges. Victory ages present early offramps. I do feel like the graphics are holding it back from people seeing how good it actually is.

It is sad when I want to throw the Olympics and all my best buds are busy building skull towers (a literal building in the game). But that's also hilariously fun.

After two full games, in my opinion, the first stage of the game is best in class. The middle game holding good as well - a lot of choices, but if you choose destruction and blaze every improvement in enemy territory (especially with Raiders, Khan etc.), AI will not follow up with you. Unfortunately later stages were a slaughterhouse for my AI opponents (maybe becasue of AI limitations).

I wish the first stage could be longer. I LOVE IT - it`s like a separate game.

The Doctor can be proud in knowing that this thread and perusing the forums/twitch has me hooked. I only buy games on sale, so if the premium version hits 25% off, I will get it.

To be honest I like religion more here for one simple reason: There aren't a billion missionaries moving across the map every turn.

I must say, I've never seen the good Doctor this vocally glowing about a game, even games he likes. But I'm feeling the same. I have more fun with Millennia than any 4X I've played.

Lol, even pcgamesn that often simps for paradox is admitting this game is in trouble.

I tried this game on my friends account and glad I stuck with civilization.
