Why is Age of Revolution the way it is?
They have managed to make of THE WORST rebel mechanics in any X4 game I've seen. Rebels should be a threat, but why does my -50 unrest megacity spawn gazillion rebels? The game should just massively keep increasing unrest so you can do something before your entire nation melts. What I feel most of all during Age of Revolution is apathy.

Yeah, the feature is broken. It just spawns rebels on a weird trigger. It should - based on description - do this when a certain threshold of unrest is reached but in my games, it does no matter the unrest in other cases. E.g. when a war ends.

However, I feel the rebel size is okay-ish. A threat for undefended areas, but they are usually unable to conquer capitals. In my case, it was about 4-6 stacks (I guess 2 per town?) of 77-armies.

It just present a lot of annoying micro. With a large empire you need to roam around hunting rebels and seeing which tile improvements they've destroyed. It's not difficult, it's just tedious to the point of just sucking any fun out of the game for that age. It honestly feels like a crisis age forced into being a standard age as well, but even as a crisis age it wouldn't be fun to play. The game's fun after it as well, but it's a slough to get through.

The rebel nation that spawns is neutral for whatever reason, so you can't even retake your cities the turn after they are captured.

Hm, in my games, they usually ram in their heads at towns and cpaitals after like three rounds and one just has two tasks: breaking the tip of the spear for threatened areas in the first round and mopping up two rounds later. But I can see that this depends on the setup.

They always spawn on the 8th turn after entering the age, and it'll always spawn 4 rebels per territory. Most of the time they're actually pretty easy to just let kamikaze against town/capital/castle walls and you only need to mop up the larger groups (I'd also recommend using the diplomacy power bribe on the larger groups - it eliminates the entire stack). Another option for an easier time is to just rush aeronautics and build bombers.
