Pink screen of death now more often

I was just getting it when the game jumped to a unit where the map wrapped east to west. Now after the update, I'm getting it all the time. I even got it on turn 7 in my most recent try.
I was playing on an Island map with all the lowest graphical settings (because I heard that might help).
It did happen once when I just zoomed out the camera, so maybe that is related somehow.

Did you start a new save or continue with an old one?

Are you playing on a Small or Tiny map? I've been able to reproduce this issue when I drag my screen to the edge of the world map (world wrap) and everything glitches. This always happens on my tiny or small island maps

New saves and old.

Yes, it's a small map! I always played those to keep from bogging down late game. I'll try normal sized maps and see how it goes. Thank you for the suggestion!
