Because this is different from CIV or Humankind games, at least there is no that regular problem what those games had where you start new game in random map as Mongols and notice that you are at north pole and there is no horses, or half map is missing iron and you play as Romans who need iron to create legions.
To me it seems that the player bubble that insist on earth maps with TSL is not so small. So from an economic standpoint it may be worth to invest the time to build a map editor - there seem to be many players who just wait for that to buy the game.
All players are waiting for news from the devs. We don't have a new roadmap. All we have is update 7 (still only on the beta branch) which was not on the road map 2024. That update focused on player wishes, QoL, and fixing bugs, and in the Paradox Millenia forum I had an answer from some dev from which I infer that there will be probably at least one further update (in DLC Atomic Ambitions there were several localizations with untranslated or even missing texts, and this slipped through because of some flaw in their shipping process - they want to correct this process so that such a thing can never happen again, and they want to correct this, which has not been done completely in update 7, so I'm hoping for at least update 8). For reference, here is a link to that thread:
At the moment, Atomic Ambitions is still not finished[forum.paradoxplaza.com]
Edit: Plus just this morning I created another thread in that forum where I suggested to create a map editor. And I would like to have a script that mixes all the existing other scripts (there's such a script in Civ VI) to have maps with a bigger surprise factor. For reference, here is a link to that thread:
Suggestions: Map Scripts and Map Editor[forum.paradoxplaza.com]
Later edit:
I just got an answer in the second of the above threads. As it seems modding maps is possible through scripts, so still no map editor. It may be cumbersome, but it would be possible to build a script with the output of an earth map. Someone just needs to do that.
If the starting points could be bound to the nation slots in the custom game screen it may be possible to have earth maps with TSL in Millennia, with up to 8 fixed nations (though you would probably have to manually choose the correct nation per slot which would still be a bit cumbersome).
If the starting points could NOT be bound to the nation slot in the custom game screen then TSL may by difficult to achieve.
Some modder should take on the issue.
