Any lists of "do this skill first" are making a decision to invest time into that skill first without having all of the synergies. This is typically in order to get a synergy that will benefit other skills.
I'd highly recommend playing with the wiki open as it is hard to know everything about this game yourself. https://wiki.melvoridle.com/w/Main_Page
If nothing else, choose a skill that you think is interesting and take a look at all the things that synergize with it. Building out those synergies will probably help you build other synergies for later down the line and give you a better idea of all the different interactions that are available to you. Then again if you're highly averse to spoilers it may ruin your experience. /shrug
When in doubt, you can use Township tasks as a sort of guide.
But other than that everything you do will benefit something else and it's really up to you what you prioritize. I don't think you can really screw up in this game so there's no real reason not to experiment and do things however you like.
1. spend some time thinking about what game mode you wanna play mainly. once you've sunk some time into your character progression switching to a new one because you realised you like another game mode more might suck. but sticking with just standard is also fine if you just wanna jump into the game.
2. ignore any and all guides and suggestions on what to level up first. the most efficient way to progress is also a very boring way as you will likely spend weeks if not month idling afk in order to progress to an "optimal start". just dabble into and try out every thing. play the game like you would play any other rpg blind and just see for yourself what aspects you like and don't like. time for optimizing things will come later.
3. be aware the many skills play into each other. for example you can get bonuses for all other skills in astrology, or find woodcutting gloves in archeology, or craft potions for any skill in herblore. don't just focus on a skill in its own bubble until its level 99. but again: it's very easy to optimize the fun out of the games, so don't overthink it (see point 2)
4. stay clear and far away from cheat mods. as fun and tempting they might be, you will absolutely kill off any enjoyment for the game and no progress will have any meaning. but also be aware of mods as there are alot of QoL mods which might enhance your gameplay. just go explore.
5. game's amazing, pop off & have fun :)
