How to get rid of township option altogether?
I have tried the 'new' townships and do not like what I have seen. My town is at 41 with around 4000 people. To START getting gold from taxes I need to get it to 80 and 40,000 population. I have only built around 30 buildings (houses and cottages to grow the population) and in the past 2 days have amassed a repair bill of 280,000 gold . . . In reading posts about the township it seems the best we can get is some potions and other stuff that give paltry increases for various skills. Something I can get from the base game without the gold drain of the townships. And from what I see not all that beneficial anyway. So my question is how do I get rid of the township option all together from my game?

Just stop using it. Let it just run for whatever it's worth and don't pull anything out of it and let it all just go into the trash can. Can't get rid of it, but you can sure ignore it if you want.

Ok thanks - was just fearful that the repair costs piling up would come out of my bank account soon.

Yeah, I think that's right. It will just keep piling up and eventually, your town will be in complete disrepair and probably won't be providing any income on the ticks, but unless you go in and try to repair, it should be pretty hands off. Once storage fills up, everything will just go into the trash. That's how I interpret the system at least. I don't see any mechanism to automatically take something from regular inventory. They even stopped any transfer of items into your town.

Storage has been full for the past three days and repair just keeps piling up . . . It looks like the population is going down 4100 - 2200 and Health is down from 100 to 88. Maybe if the population goes to 0 it will die?

Yeah, I'm not liking my answer much now. Probably need a dev to chime in on what happens if you just let it run and never check it again.

Indeed we are all learning about the new townships . . .

The health won't drop below 20%, but I believe the buildings will eventually reach 0% durability, and then the repair cost should stop going up.

The new system can make you a lot of money, but it also requires a huge amount of money to be put in to it first. My fully upgraded town is giving me 2 million money per hour, but I probably put around 1 billion into it to reach that point. So it definitely feels like a later game thing before it starts being profitable.

When I logged in after the update, I ended up with nearly a 1B refund from all I had put into the old system. I'm nearly done with upgrading everything and haven't even dipped into that 1B yet, so not sure how people are losing money. The new system seems much cheaper to max out.

You earn income every hour, and if you just let it run, all you have to do is go in once in a while and repair everything, which is a one button click. You should be pulling in enough resources that you will still make money and just takes a second or two to repair. It seems balanced enough to not drain you. The only thing to really decide is if there is anything worth pulling out of the trader. There are some combat scrolls that are kind of nice. Every little bit helps. There really isn't much left to do after that.

EDIT: Oh, it does seem you have to heal up your population from time to time. That's what those herb and potion icons are for that aren't labeled or as far as I can tell are described anywhere.

MustangMR - what you are saying may be correct but in order to get income from a township you need to have Town Halls that are not available until you have a level 80 township with 40,000 population. I am a long way from there and in just a week after only building 20 or so Houses and 2 cottages I have a repair bill of 541,000 gold with 0 income to offset that. In that week my township level has gone from 45 to 37 and my population has gone from 4700 to 1900 and I can not even build cottages (need 2500 population) anymore . . .

o0 Wow, well, I'm glad they fixed the fail issue. :/

Why they would make town halls such a high level requirement is beyond me... none of the bioms have any you can build? I guess they figured most people would have been further along and they just didn't bother to actually test it out building a city from scratch. I'm almost done with mine and it does end up being at least not a drain on you, but why they made it dependent on outside income to build is crazy. Get your thief working or build dragon javelins.... or keep asking for that disable township completely feature.

Yea Javelins are where I get most of my gold - working on a bunch of Corundum ones now and will very soon unlock the Augite ones :)

You've heard wrong then, the Trader is BROKEN as hell.
I never have to Cook again or make Potions, and a lot of the Consumables are pretty useful.

I would recommend keep going. 280,000 gold is like a minutes worth of idling in later game. All the repair costs and such that you think is extortionate now is pennies later on. So if its overwhelming right now, wait until you get a bigger band then have at it.
