Do I need to do a hardcore run to get 100% achievements?
I'm about 2 weeks into my first playthrough, playing on standard mode. But I just realised it's going to take over a year to 100% the standard mode, and then it'll be another year to get the hardcore achievements.

So shouldn't I just do a hardcore run straight away so I can get all the achievements without having to do 2 entire runs?

You only have to defeat the Fire God in hardcore, you do not have to 100% the full game in hardcore mode. You can 100% the game and while your normal mode game is idling in the background you can work on the hardcore mode. Most of the game is offline waiting, so jumping between them is no issue.

Hardcore achievements won't give you much trouble either way.

Well, yeah. My biggest regret was not starting a HC char when I started playing, I started every other btw.
Don't worry about combat or thieving in HC. Do everything else that would not kill you. Learn from normal mode what the common pitfalls leading to death are while slowly building up your HC char. Then when you're comfortable with not dying, actively start combat on your HC char which should have like dragon armor and other non-DLC end game gear ready.

The way I did it was running a hardcore character parallel to my normal one after I had been playing normal mode for a couple of weeks.

Basically, I did a bunch of money gathering, a lot of fishing to have food and so on (basically prepared myself for combat) with my HC character while exploring stuff with the main one. That way by the time I went into dungeons with my hardcore character I already knew what to expect difficulty wise.

At the end of it it wasn't that bad, did the hardcore run first try and it didn't take too long. In hardcore if you're going for achievements all you need to do is max out combat skills (which you can do with super easy enemies to be safe if you're running 2 characters) and then beat all main dungeons. There's no need to complete 100% unless you want to. It sounds harder and more tedious in theory than it actually is.

Oh, forgot to mention. While combat needs well, combat to train. You can train strength by fishing in the barbarian area.
Otoh I don't think strength blocks much craftable gear so I don't know how useful that actually is.

also do i need dlcs for %100?
Game completion is explicitly called "base game completion" in-game, so I would imagine nothing is locked behind DLC.

No, all achievements are obtainable in base game without DLC
