Best scaling in the form of your combat level would be Attack, Strength, Hitpoints, Defense & Prayer
Slayer doesn't affect combat level, it's literally just a passive stat
In the line of Range & Magic, they don't offer much as they only are dependent as a singular from that of which is higher than the other which are, between range, magic & combined (Attack & Strength) which is why melee benefits more from it

For example the adventure guide does tell you roughly what your skill level needs to be to hit 99, which is just below 80 for the melee skills.
I think you're thinking too much into it, just aim to reach high numbers in your combat stats & you'll reach it eventually

I also did ranged but it didnt get too high but it takes your highest between all the melee, ranged or magic attack stats for the calculation.
Prayer is a bit of a pain to train though, so I think it's around 80+.
