Randomly clicking on things, I eventually hit on the health repair (which was already showing 100%) for 1 point, and this set it back to the expected values.
So there is a bug in that the value can be lowered, and not brought back up until repairing town health which was already at 100%.
And fixing this "0%" lack of health brought pop value for town all the way to the expected 3000+
Checking just now, health is showing 99%, happy -22.15%, and pop is at 3046.
So something really got messed up in that it wouldn't go back t proper pop until after an un-needed health repair.
probably should change it so that at least the various population parts remain unlocked even if active population drops below initial unlock level (once unlocked).
Game is ULTRA complex in maths formula...so YES if this is a bug things like this are BOUND to crop up here n there. Glad that people like you are SUPERB with the observations, because I like this game a lot! So therefore when the dev sees/reads these threads, or someone takes it and POPS in on the github it will make correction easier, thus making the game better for us all (patches wise). I am asking for a VISUALLY impaired version of both this AND WarSim as another superb improvement for the game. This will likely take years as people seem to both like to ignore ME, and of coarse the visually impaired segment of the population (sadly)...yet I am MORE than persistent, and eventually this WILL get done.
The advantage being then you could play Melvor Idle while walking around in the forest, EITHER being a sighted individual OR a visually impaired person (with a guide OR the newly being developed visors similar to the startrek versions many have seen).
In my case, it was due to the -50% happiness from winter dropping me from a bit above the min required to way below, and thus locking all repair and construction...
