Point of Firemaking

I've been playing for a little bit, got level 80 Firemaking, and am still unsure of what it actually does? How does it help with anything outside of leveling Firemaking?

Firemaking cape raises all other xp gains, so it can help you level other skills. I think there is also some benefit to skills like cooking from other upgrades you can buy. It makes some gold as well but far from the best.

its one of the better 99's to get first, simply because it gives exp bonus's to other skills, same with agility although agility requires you to level all skills to build the obsticles

+ the 95% mastery pool checkpoint gives +5% mastery xp to everything

To add on top of the checkpoint giving you the mastery xp, getting any individual log to 99 will give you a .25 mastery xp to everything as well. Once you have it maxed out, you're looking at like a 7.25% buff to everything.
