Barrier Gem

Are we going to see a buff on how to obtain these gems? before i start sitting on the ancient market for "weeks" to cover the need of barrier gems i would like to know... i noticed there is a HUGE need for these, but only one place to obtain them from..

I just have happened to farm everything else in this expansion just before you buff the drops or something, so i wouldnt want to see that happen again :D

Did i spend days getting the mythic staffs... yes... just to see the need dropped to like 1k?
Did i kill almost 5k of them crystal monsters to get the dust... yes.. and now you would need like 100 kills...
Did i farm 25 of them rare aranite burshes just day before you nerfed the need of them :D yes i did!

How you came up with weeks is beyond me. It takes like 6 hours to get all the gems you need for all 3 ancient sets. The last time this came up I broke down the math here:

FWIW, I'm somewhere in the mid-game (most skills in the 80s-90s), and farming barrier gems overnight with a refined map got me less than 600 of them. Pandorian, I can only assume you're an endgame player to get numbers like those, and barrier dust-upgradeable items have been added at all stages of the game (there's a reason barrier gems come from the level 6 dig site).

FWIW, I'm somewhere in the mid-game (most skills in the 80s-90s), and farming barrier gems overnight with a refined map got me less than 600 of them. Pandorian, I can only assume you're an endgame player to get numbers like those, and barrier dust-upgradeable items have been added at all stages of the game (there's a reason barrier gems come from the level 6 dig site).

Level up your Archaeology more and make sure you refine your map. I did the grind for a set of melee gear and it only took me an overnight, That grind was before I had all my upgrades that made it even easier. For usage, I didn't farm barrier gems except for Ancient set. Your 600 is enough to cover the magic Ancient set already with some to spare.

There really aren't a lot of bonuses to Archaeology outside of the skill itself; so being endgame really doesn't have any bearing on my numbers. At most your interval would be a bit higher. My numbers were just base game drops before doubling/preservation was taken into account. In the thread I linked, they mentioned they were in Ancient Relic mode, which disables doubling/preservation.

If you mean endgame by I spent a lot of time leveling that skill up, then yes. The same can be said for any skill though really. The higher the level and more upgrades you get, the easier it becomes to mass collect lower level stuff.

For one, plus making sure you get your tool upgrades. Your chance to find items is based on tool level so anything that boosts that will increase your barrier gems/hour. There's a mastery checkpoint at 50% that gives +3 tool level and then museum donations give +1 tool level every 50 donations.

why not just add the gem to multiple archaeology dig sites and not just one of the lowest lvl... i cant even benefit from it the XP wise...

and its not just the ancient set that needs the barrier gems.. potions and tablets also need them.. ive completely skipped the potions all thou would have loved to use them..
i only grinded the first stage of ancient legs and chest and plowed thru the combat content with those... and yes only melee the whole content...

i guess i can afk the rest of the gems when everything else is done...
