Do I just basically siphon mastery from other sources when maxing out Jadestone bolt crafting?

Pretty much, at least the skills that have a lot of items, you can easily dump the XP into mastery even from 98 to 99 easily, as I did with most of my high level or hard to acquire items such as Jade Bolts

Just don't forget that there are tasks tied to Jade Stones as well as Jade Bolts, if you want to get that out of the way, so that is technically an incentive to get some Mastery from said task to complete them as well, so you don't really need to max it instantly either, as it will be a while before you complete the task

We'll see. What particularly was annoying about the Jadestone quest is that I had 300 and already completed the other 2 requirements, so I thought I'll leave it for a couple hours and since I already had 300 it'll be fast right? No...
I really was chasing it because it was one of the remaining "low-hanging" fruit anyway, to reach the thresholds to unlock new ♥♥♥♥.

if you need crossbow bolts and not the stone itself, you can farm Hunting Greater Dragon
It has a 99% chance of giving you 1 to 40 bolts (elite town quest 200k bolts -> 4k jadestone)

If you need mastery, then yes - the easiest way to siphon experience
