Should I try mods?

I have been playing for a while now, never even looked into mods. I think there are some that could be really helpful but I am not sure if it will ruin the game for me or not. What do you guys think? Any mods recommendation? Also I am really scared about losing my saves and progression, I hope mods don't effect that in any way.

The only mods I use are informational ones, like the combat simulator, ETA, and Item Uses. They help a ton with planning and knowing how long certain grinds will take, and don't make any changes to progression or player power. Also you can disable the mods freely with no impact to your saves.

thank you! do you think now is a good time to install mods? Whenever I open up the game it says DISABLE THE MODS UNTIL YOU MAKE SURE THEY ARE UPDATED or something.

Only content and gameplay changing mods an potentially break the save, after the game receives a big update and said mods aren't updated in time. The warning message you see it for those who use such mods.
Extra info / QoL mods can be toggled on/off to your liking without issues so now is as good time as any to use them.

Some are really harmless, like a notbook or information, like QuasarHero said.

It's highly recommended to back up your save (Settings > Save Character) before enabling mods.
