Question about township taxes
I finally got to building the town hall. And to my surprise it started giving 500k gp per tick. Then I built another town hall, bringing it up to 1m gp per tick. And I built another one, now at 1.5m per tick. But when I built 4th one, it only went up to 1.6m. What?

Am I missing something about the way this works or what is the explanation?

Don't forget that Seasons, Happiness & Town Health affect major changes to the game based on several stats which is commonly an oversight by many with other issues

Just remember to keep an eye on these statistics at all times as they are probably the likely culprit

Then, since it takes a lot of resources for a Town Hall to be built, enough time has passed to have dealt with a new Season

Items that globally affect GP accumulation actually work with taxes for those of you that didn't know & don't forget about negative bonuses from Agility

Hey thanks for the answer. I confess it took me a while to notice that seasons affect anything but pretty sure that's not the case here. Because I'm talking about "tax rate: 40%" tooltip thingy "after" adding a new town hall.

I add one building -> I have 500k income
I add one more -> I have 1,000k income
I add one more -> I have 1,500k income
I add one more -> I have 1,600k income

It looked like it was adding 500k per building until the 4th one where it only added 100k for that building. That's what I'm confused about.

And here I'm sure it's not caused by the items because I wore and switched around many hats and jewelry that affect GP income and it's still stuck at 1,600k. It goes slightly up and down with township health but that's it.

Why did the first 3 town halls gave 500k income each, but the 4th one gave 100k? I'll soon be able to build the 5th and we'll see how much income that adds, maybe that will answer a few things.

  • Seasons: Affect many of the stats within township, which have negatives for Happiness & WINTER specifically has negative stats not only for Happiness but also for GP through Taxes

  • Township Health: Affects your Population, which can only be levied by having Township Potions & Township Herbs to get your Township Health back to 100

    Note: You can use the max quantity of Township Herbs & Township Potions, in which it will only use up to the max of what you need to fill your Township Health without stressing over clicking to use one at a time

  • Happiness: Affects your Population, the lower your Happiness the less amount of Population you will have

    Note: The buildings that affect Happiness are Gardens & Tavern which will be next to each other in the Grasslands Biome & the third Happiness Affected Building is in the Snow Biome listed as the Tavern which will be one of the last few buildings at the bottom

  • Population: Affects XP gain & GP through taxing, of course where Happiness & Township Health helps keep your population high, having less will give you less tax output which will result in less GP

  • Repair Buildings: Some buildings also affect Happiness which you can find the indicated Smiley Icon on such buildings, if damaged, they will need to be repaired in order to gain full function of its bonuses otherwise based on the amount needed to be repaired, the bonus will decline over time if not repaired, the rate at which buildings are damaged per tick are also random, so it may or may not affect said building(s) either

Thanks for listing those but it's none of them, I checked one by one:
- Seasons: I was in fall when I noticed this and fall didn't list any punishment for GP. Fall is still not over but the income is still 1,600k so it's not seasons
- Township health: I always keep it at 99%, it was also at 99% health when I first noticed this so it's not township health
- Happiness was and currently is at 202% so it's not happiness
- Population was always around what I usually have as max, and still is, so it's not population
- Repairs, I always keep things repaired as soon as I noticed and currently it's all repaired but income is still 1,600k so it's not repairs

I think maybe I wasn't clear in describing my problem, my issue is not income suddenly dropping. My issue is the "new income" after building another townhall going from 1,500k to just 1,600k. Because I have been getting 500k per town hall until that point, so naturally I expected 2,000k after this new townhall, but instead I got 1,600k.

So now I just upgraded another new townhall, and now I have 2,000k. So this new townhall did give me +500k as expected. So the question remains, why did the previous townhall only give 100k in income boost but this last one I did gave 500k.

Maybe after the first few townhalls it's a "2 buildings for the next bonus" kind of thing? You know like rocks? I am utterly confused, I'm not sure if i'm missing something

Townhall 1: gives 500k bonus, bringing me from 0 GP income per tick to -> 500k p/t
Townhall 2: gives 500k bonus, bringing me from 500k GP income p/t to -> 1,000k p/t
Townhall 3: gives 500k bonus, bringing me from 1,000k GP income p/t to -> 1,500k p/t
Townhall 4: gives 100k bonus, bringing me from 1,500k GP income p/t to -> 1,600k p/t
Townhall 5: gives 500k bonus, bringing me from 1,600k p/t to -> 2,100k p/t

I hope it's clearer now maybe it's a bit confusing or am I wondering over something irrelevant I'm not sure but currently my undestanding is that each building added 500k to my income except townhall 4 and that is my question.

Quick and dirty calculation: The wiki ( https://wiki.melvoridle.com/w/Township#Buildings_and_Resources ) lists the absolute income as 1.5GP per 10% tax per villager*, so with 80% (max) you would have 1.5*8=12GP per villager per tick.
I have currently a population of 425,532 and 80% tax, so the gold per tick is 12*425.532=5.106.384 and that is exactly what it is displaying.

Maybe you can find out what is wrong by calculating like this? The only variable according to the wiki next to the tax % is the number of villagers... so upgrading your townhall from 3 to 4 is off, the number of villagers would have to change before/after the update to come to those numbers (being so far away with 100k instead of 500k seems as if it is not a simple small% bonus from some astrology constellation or something like that).

*citing the wiki:
"GP is earned by taxing the town's Population, where the tax rate starts at 0% and increases by 10% for each Town Hall that is built, up to a maximum of 80%. Citizens are taxed every town update, and the amount of GP earned in tax from each citizen is 1.5 for every 10% of tax rate. The amount of GP earned can be affected by Township specific GP production modifiers, such as those present within some Seasons, although is not affected by global GP modifiers such as from Aorpheat's Signet Ring."

are you sure it is not affected by seasons?
5 townhall would give you 2500k instead of 2100k

I'm pretty sure it's not the season cause if it was the season then the season would have officially affected only one of the town halls, reducing one townhall's individual income. That sounds stupid and impossible so I don't know what else it could be. It's winter now, tomorrow will be spring and I'll try the calculation binarybrain suggested ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seasons affect happiness which affects your total population.
