Level 5 cells in Cartography

Can someone tell me why some of the empty cells are Level 5 instead of Level 2 like the others. For example, (24, 15). I know that points of interest and dig sites are Level 5, but this one is neither. It's just a blank cell. I even tried going to it and nothing happened.

All cells go to level 5 after you do your initial survey. This is explained if you click on the Hex Mastery button. Just max out your survey on the cells if you start surveying them. Otherwise you're going to be playing spot the difference when you haven't unlocked the part where they all go to 5.

The others are Level 2 as I haven't surveyed all the cells yet. So why are some Level 2 and others are Level 5?

Maybe those are dig sites that you haven't found yet because they need a specific item from another site to unlock them?

Is that how it works? I'll hit up a few dig sites. I've been staying away from them as my bank is always full and I never know what to do with the items. I don't want to sell them but I don't want to have them take up the bank space either.

Rude. It says surveying to Level 5 will be unlocked once the whole world is surveyed. I already told you I haven't done that yet.

You asked why some are level 2 and why others are level 5. It answers that question in the Hex Mastery button

Initially, only ? Point of Interest and ! Dig Site hexes can be surveyed to Level 5. All other Hexes can only be surveyed to Level 2 (Excluding the starting zone).

No clue why you think pointing out that you already have the necessary knowledge is rude. It's fine, I'll just not answer you again since you don't like interacting with me.

I think that is how it works, yeah - I've been looking up a specific item on the official wiki, and apparently that comes from a dig site I haven't found yet. The wiki also gives the coordinates of said dig site, which is a hex I've already surveyed to level 5, but which seems empty.

So I'm assuming it'll show up once I've found the pre-requisite item for that site

That sounds plausible. However, looking at the wiki, I see there are some points of interest near the tile, but there is nothing listed for this specific tile, (24,15).

The first guy's response is slightly wrong, I aint reading the rest - the answer is that those are POIs eventually, e.g. Melantis takes several clues etc to find, so you may end up surveying the spot its at before it will unlock as a digsite. Thats all it is, its just future POIs going to lv5 because you don't have the requirements to go there yet.
