Is Onyx glitched? I can't mine it but it's HP is 69696969

That is not its HP rather it is the Max value it can have since it works differently than a normal ore is

The only way to increase Superior Gems HP like Onyx is by mining any high level ore, being Corundum & higher, each mining action has a small chance to add that chance to one of the Superior Gems so that you can mine it from it

Mining upgrades to higher level pickaxes will also offer a chance to randomly obtain a Superior Gem alternatively, so technically you wouldn't have to mine the Superior Gem Veins at all
