what are mastery tokens?

do they give xp to the skill itself or do they add xp to the mastery of that skill? or under a certain item you used in that skill? im confused.

im confused, i cant even see my mastery level so how do i know which level im at and what bonuses i have active?

also is it best to save and use the tokens when ur lvl 99 in that skill or use them right away as u get them?

It tells you what they do in their description. There should be zero confusion as to what they do.

if you open a non-combat skill tab, in the top right corner of the screen should be a blue button labled "View checkpoints" it shows you what the effects are, if you fill your mastery pool for that skill.
mastery xp is gained when using the skill. mastery tokens just give a small (0.1% of the max pool size) of bonus xp when used.

Yup. It certainly says stuff in the description. I'm with the OP. I've read it multiple times and still don't know if or when I should use them and on what.
I think the OP's question is valid and an answer of "read the thing that you don't find clear" is invalid.

Generally you use them as soon as you get them to get the mastery bonuses sooner. Once your over 95% then you can use them to add levels to whatever your crafting/farming etc
