Better to start with all DLC, or play base game for a while first?
Deciding whether to get the base game now and then the DLC down the line, or wait for all of it to be discounted. I'm just wondering if it's better to play everything at the same time, or if the DLC's better after I've played the game for a while.

Look. Base game is enough to start. The first DLC increases the maximum level limit from 99 to 120 and adds the town plus all other minor things so it's not necessary at the start. The second DLC adds 2 new abilities ( archeology and cartography ) plus other minor things. In my opinion the base game is good as it is and later on, if you want, you can buy dlc expanding the base game. At the moment the game is in discount

If you are enjoying your first few hours you should get atlas of discovery above the throne of herald as the herald expansion has no relevence in the early game

Herald is really for the late game. You might get items to make the base game easier, but I wouldn't buy it until you have progress in the base game.

I just bought the expanded version a few days ago.

Its on offer at the moment so got the game and the thrones DLC for £6.62(The price of an expensive pint of lager), Its already lasted longer than a pint would have.

It feels like i will buy the new expansion in the future also

As the others have said I would suggest getting Atlas of Discovery. it adds a lot and you get 2 additional skills. So you can pick it up quite easy from the beginning. However, the basegame has so much value, that you can easily wait for a long period of time. I would wait with getting The Throne of Herald dlc as that adds content from level 99 to 120. The dlc is currently on discount, but i suspect it being on sale later this year again. So, you dont lose anything by waiting till you hit your first or multiple 99.
Thanks guys, I grabbed the base game awhile and if that goes well I'll grab Atlas too!

town is base game, but yeah I agree with your points. Buy the 2nd dlc if you want to do concurrently it or at all and once you start finishing the skills should you consider buying the first dlc.

I know everyone has posted their responses but with a little more info

Base game for sure, but depending on how you are going to play the game, if you like to focus on multiple skills rather than just one skill, then having the base game alone is a great start for you, but if you want to focus on one skill at a time, get to the max you can then go to the next, having Throne of the Herald will definitely be a great choice

Throne of the Herald
Having this DLC specifically is still beneficial, even though there are some specific differences in what you actually have access to

Combat & Combat Gear in TotH
Specifically to use combat gear, you have to defeat a base game dungeon that gives you access to equip weapons and armor of gear over level 99, without which, you cannot use them & your slayer also needs to be over level 99 to make use of all the new combat enemies, so combat will be the negative here and requires lots of grinding before it can be made access to

Non-Combat Skills in TotH
However, non-combat skills actually are available right away, so even after hitting 99, leveling up non-combat skills even more give you access to more items, you can reach up to level 120 and have access to all that comes with it, without needing to do the combat dungeon to unlock the ability to use non-combat items
Example: Maybe you wanted to make use of fishing new fish above level 99, cooking them and using them as food, get ahead on bonuses from Astrology reaching 120 & getting all constellations to 99 mastery, really helpful, just to name a few

I can't really say how useful the new Atlas DLC is currently as it's new and it plays out as it's own separate game mode as it's not really tied to anything in the base game in terms of getting it started, but likely the bonuses come later with gear and other benefits

Good Luck & Have Fun :smiling:
