Coal
Is there any trick for getting coal quicker? Just got to dragonite bars that require 12 coal for each dragonite, not to mention the 2 runite needed. I have 15,000 dragonite and just did the math and it will take 70 hours to get the 180,000 coal I will need to smelt the bars.

Township? With a non-optimized L~70 build, I can get about 10k coal per trader visit by converting all of the stone, ore, and coal town resources. If you're like me and haven't touched township in a while, you'll have a decent stock of ticks to spend. If your town resource income is too low, build a few Mining Pits (I have 50ish upgraded ones).

Other than that, you could buy and equip some Mining Gloves, they double ore drops.

If you have the gold for it, buying some Mining Gloves in the Shop Menu will double the amount of coal you mine when you wear them until they run out of charges. You can also get some coal through the Township skill.

Edit: Lol, Picocolo beat me to it. Definitely use your stock of ticks once you have your mining pits set up. Other than that, the Mining skill cape helps a lot once you get Mining to Level 99.

Thanks for the tips :)

Oh those gloves are nice - you normally get 2 but when you get an extra hit you get 4 :) Just one quick question though - I bought 10 but when I looked in the bank there was only 1. Does this 1 have the full 5,000 charges of the 10 single gloves? - Just found the answer to this. Noticed there is a small icon in the upper left of the mining screen that shows the glove and how many charges are left - I got the full 5,000.

Now to go see about that township part. I stopped working on the township when I got to 110 population and had all the stuff I could get and noticed the next upgrades required 200 population. That and all the talk about waiting for the new township upgrades :)

Hmm I guess I should have named this thread coal ore :) From looking at the township and the trader seems you can not get the ore - just give the town coal ore and get coal from it . . .

Yes, you can only have 1 glove, and any time you buy it again it refills the charges based on how many you purchase multiplied by the base value. (500 for Mining Gloves)

You can get Coal Ore from the trader by trading the Township Resources of ore, coal, and/or stone for Coal Ore at a rate of 78 to 1.

Thanks, Kagora. It is tough to find out how something works in this game until you have it - will see about getting my township to the point of being able to get a trader.

Look in your astrology and open up the Ameria. (explore) adjust your firemaking things to what you can afford to speed up the process.
Look at the super heat potions in alt magic to help reduce costs. (IV is best spell as it negates all coal costs)
As mentioned get the gloves.
Try to get the 99 skill cape as its a huge help. (smithing or firemaking, both help)

Super Heat is an Alt. Magic spell, not an Herblore Potion.

There's so much stuff in the game it's pretty hard to not get things confused.

if you ever want to know anything and everything about an item you can select the item in your inventory and then on the upper right area of the UI is a green button just under the search bar. This will open the wiki page of that item. The wiki page is filled with all kinds of knowledge about items and how to acquire them along with what an item is used for.
