Shall I specialize or train multiple combat skills?
I’ve been playing magic mostly but I saw someone saying that you should train all combat skills. Is it worth it or nah ?

There's a combat triangle, rock-paper-scissors type and accuracy/evasion ratio.
As a strictly magic character you will struggle agains ranged enemies, because they do more damage and you do less to them. You'll also be ineffective against other magic enemies, because they have high magic evasion, which means you'll waste tons of runes on missed attacks.

as Guber mentioned the "combat triangle" plays a part in pretty much everything from mid to late game but there are other options with pretty big benefits as well, a higher magic level means you can level your defence / HP at the same time by swithing styles from pure magic exp to defensive + magic exp. its pretty quick defence exp to afk with as long as you have the food. why level att / str from level 1 to gain defence exp when you can use what ever your magic level is.

ALT magic is also great for gaining magic exp + prayer points (to use in combat to gain prayer exp) with the spells bone offering / blessed offering / holy invocation 1 - 2 - 3.

i highly recommend for any player to max Astrology first, get the masteries all to 99 / upgrade them. its a huge boost to every other skill in many many ways, including combat with accuracy / hidden levels etc, google the astrology buffs / astrology wiki to see what you gain in every skill

Playing around with what you want is fine, but of course as said above, Combat Triangle matters, at the start, Magic is the ideal form of attack as most enemies are really melee only, when it comes to fighting dungeons or specific item dropping monsters you need, being Magic enemies, you'll want to be Ranged to maximize your accuracy as Magic is weak to Ranged

^ A definite must, if not playing in Adventure Mode, you have instant access to all features regarding Astrology and to make benefits of it early on

Adventure Mode Players Recommend Combat
It's suggested that it's far faster to gain faster combat Level via training, Attack, Strength, Defence, Prayer & HP but that's going to level no matter what damage you do, Magic & Ranged don't offer much in a bonus towards combat level

Good Luck & Have Fun :smiling:

as a side note to tag onto the person above (no idea what your name is haha) about adventure mode. a skills mastery is NOT capped by your combat level. so, you CAN get to mastery 99 in skills even if your level 3 in combat.

so for an example, (adventure mode) if your combat level is 50, and you've unlocked mining, you can mine upto mythril. you wont gain any mining skill exp past 50 untill your combat level raises BUT your mastery of a skill goes above the level 50 limit. so you can mine mithril and get to 99 mastery if you want.

very very very useful for early ADV mode for things like thieving. as you gain passive stealth from mastery levels so you never fail a pickpocket on lower targets like men / women / goblins etc as you can gain a free 174 stealth (99 mastery) as well as 99% extra gold find (not including if you find the pet / other items from thieving)

Awesome thanks for all the explanations !
So I should definitly train my other combat skills I see :)
Shall I actually have magic / ranged and melee or just magic / melee is enough ?

You will need to use them all, basically.

You can get by with melee only until God Dungeons though really.
