I don't know what those acronyms are that you used, but if you like idle games, this appears to be decent. I only have a few+ hours into it atm.

PROS
====
+ Good overall quality idle

CONS
====
- No fullscreen support
- No bgm/sfx audio
- Bugged buttons (no effect when clicked)
- No mod support / Hostility towards modders - verified false

If you like idle games and you're not broke, this is a buy.

There are valid reasons for passing on this, as noted above. Maybe wait 6 months and checkup on it again.

the game is based off games called Runescape 3 (RS3) and oldschool runscrape (OSRS).

only in name. it's still just an idle version.

OP, I'm confident you're smart enough not to be beguiled by ridiculous accusations. Some players are throwing tantrums because an EULA was introduced, which, if you take the hype seriously, probably indicates that the game devs expect you to give up your first born to be sold on the black market... or something like that.

To your actual question -- yes, the game is worth it. It does have a runescape vibe, where you level specifically named skills and grind and combine resources and try to improve your efficiency. It doesn't require a lot of time investment. And the challenge of maximizing efficiency and maxing all skills provide the kind of rewarding experience you'd probably want from an idle game.

Regarding bugs, EULAs, etc: they exist. But they're not nearly the boogeymen they're made out to be.

chad would like you to think this is the only game with intrusive data collection. you'd probably never play any game if you had the ability to observe the behavior of each running application. don't let it freak you out.

It actually is a good thing for devs to observe user metrics to identify and fix bugs.

If the devs sell the metrics associated with your game play, and you're never bothered with the results of such sale, did your participation in playing the game ever effect your future participation in playing the game?
Segan 2021 年 11 月 18 日 下午 9:56
I did read the EULA. I also read the other EULA linked to in another thread here. They were not the same. The one linked to in another thread is for who knows what game.

stuff

I skimmed the Eula. Looks like standard sauce to me. I did not see anything at all about deep diving into personal data. I guess I missed an entire section? I concede that I may (unlikely) have missed some damning paragraph in the Eula that validates your point. But I currently doubt it.

The onus is on you to provide the location in the EULA that we can reference and acknowledge your complaints. Without that specific reference, and given that I've skimmed the EULA, I'm calling you out on your bullsh1t.

Honestly i wouldnt stress, there isnt anything your isp, social media and websites hasnt already seen and know about you. Regardless this game is amazing and pre-release i've thrown probably 6 days at it so far. The dev is amazing and is endorsed by Jagex which opens up a lot of opportunity for game development. The game play is virtually what you expect runescape as a text based game to be and its amazing, it is missing a few things like quests and some skills but the game is still heavily under development. There are a few rare bugs but if you check the games github you'll see the dev working tirelessly to fix problems.

All in all its worth the money, especially coz of the cloud saves, ez pc to mobile. Tho you have to buy it on steam first then mobile not the other way around (yet)

100% worth it, I come from a background of loving idle games, while most idle games I end up trying, don't last very long, the grind feels old and stale a lot of the times, overly repetitive, like a lot of them use a restart or prestige system which after a while becomes meaningless and doesn't make progression fun

I have over 12,000 days worth of hours in Runescape since 2007, Melvor Idle has lots of variety and keeps you engaged as you get to choose which skills to train at your own pace and through all risks and rewards, this game is basically just that, and idle game of Runescape just no fancy 3D walking around anywhere, but the same type of grind and more, with the bonuses, pets, combat system and even loot drops from various monsters/dungeons

For me personally, it's an Idle game I love and enjoy currently have over 1,000 hours in and I just recently deleted all my characters & achievements due to the 1.0 release, to start over fresh for the celebratory occasion

I'd suggest starting with Standard or Hardcore first, save Adventure Mode for afterwards, Adventure is a bit more complicated than easy, you start with Attack, Strength, Defence & HP unlocked at the start, you then have to make money to buy more skills to use, first being 10,000gp, the next increases in price, ect., each new skill a higher price awaits, so it'd be wise to take your knowledge from the already known Standard/Hardcore modes to govern what can help you in Adventure Mode

Hardcore Mode: Keep offline combat turned off in the settings, it's off by default, until you're comfortable and know exactly how the combat system works before turning it on and risking death while away

Nothing else to say really, everything else is pretty straight forward for anyone who has played Runescape Oldschool/3

Good Luck & Have Fun :smiling:

I skimmed the Eula.

next time try READING it instead of barely glancing at it. its worded in a way that people like you, who dont bother reading agreements and just hit agree, will think "oh nothing bad here".
Why don't you leave this discussion not at the thread created by you just for this topic?

So... since when do idle games typically cost almost $12? 90% of them are completely free to play, but I don't see enough to justify this game costing more than $5, at most. Seems like a lot for an idle game, there are games with actual gameplay that can be bought for that pricetag.

I actually didnt realize it was $12 now (I think it was $10 before? Not certain) but I remember I got it on sale after trying the browser version because I thought it was a little pricey too.

But to your and the OP question...

Now, after way too many hours, I think the game is worth the cost. If you are on the fence I would say wishlist it and then wait for Steam to tell you its on sale - you can try the demo version in the meantime. The demo didnt exist when I started so I dont know precisely whats taken out of it but you should be able to give it a try and see if you like the way the game is played.

If you like the first couple hours you will probably like the game since its systems are largely similar from skill to skill.

- No mod support / Hostility towards modders

The modding community is one of the best parts about this game. If you join our Discord, you will see the dedicated section for them, as well as on the Wiki.

All modders are welcome here.

I was a little curious about that too. It's $10 where I am, which hardly breaks the bank but the typical price tag for an idle game ranges from free to $5. Then again, many clickers lean towards pay to win, or pay for progress & added content. I think devs are entitled to a paycheck for their work, so if it's $10 with no further carrot dangled in front of us that's fair. Don't know enough about this game yet to say one way or another, I just got sucked in to the forum while jumping down a Steam rabbit hole, not sure exactly why I ended up here but I do play an occasional clicker and this one looks interesting so I might get it if there's no obnoxious PTW loop.

Like I mentioned a few posts up, you can always wishlist it and wait for it to go on sale, thats what I did. Although now I would have just bought it.

There isnt any form of pay-shop in the game and I believe the Dev said he didnt intend to add one (factcheck if Im wrong). The front purchase cost of the game is the whole cost for everything. If you want to see for yourself you can check out the demo.
