It is all gone. More than 5,000 hours... poof.
Why? Just set something up and log off, let it play while you're offline.
People always seem so surprised when I tell them I hardly turn off/restart my computer either.
There really needs to be a mention that there is no email associated with the account. I know it is set up that way so we have to give as little info as possible, but that really needs a reminder. This specific thing has happened enough that it is obviously a problem.
Anyway, even if you didnt use an email to set up your cloud save it is nearly 100% still there - there is just no link between it and you. It is possible that if you go on Discord and talk to Malcs he may have some way of reconnecting you manually. It is a super longshot but it is a shot. Good Luck :)
I would recommend not telling anybody if he fixes it - it would probably cause a stampede to his door.
If you remember where you were, it's possible to make a new character, manually save, and alter the character data. There is a website called "melvor edit" that can do this for you. Not sure if it still works with the latest version.
Ah, well if you decide to come back in the future, keep that in mind. Maybe you'll want to start over after a big update - but if not, you can edit your save to be back where you were.
Down at the bottom of the Setting section there is a place to make and upload saves - you download your save as a text string that you can just copy/paste. It has all your character info in it. Thats about it.
But, all you really need to do is use the cloud save function AND make sure it is connected to an email address for password recovery. That should cover you 99.9% but it is the .01% the manual one is for.
If you play on multiple systems I recommend emailing the manual save to yourself periodically - makes it easier to keep track of.
It isnt in the game itself since it is account level and not character level - gotta go up a tier.
When you first open the game and before you open your character there is a place where you can click to open your profile. I dont have it in front of me right now but I THINK it is in the lower left. Open that and there is an email field - that field is empty for like 98% of us :P but just put in your email - now you can recover your password.
Also i'm actually disconnected from the could and it requires an account, is it better do one to not lose progress or the account is not for the cloud ?
Export Save gives you the actual text string that is your saved character, but most players would just need Download Save which is that text string in a normal save file like most games.
Cloud is better by far. Set up your account (it is only for cloud saving) and use that ASAP.
