Will my potatoes continue to grow if I exit game, pls? (also bonus questions, lol)
OK so I just started the game.

I only put 3 compost on my free tatty seeds as I wasn't sure what I was doing.

I went and bought 2 extra compost (to make up to 5, but then realised that's actually only 5, lol) and bought a second plot of land, but I don't have any more seeds or any way to access any more right now. have I messed up using that gold, or will it be OK?

I tried collecting seeds from the plants, but they only give me actual grown potatoes unfortunately. (I guess I have the compost loaded up on the second garden to use nonce I can start getting more seeds, and I just add the final compost to it to make 5, before planting anything.

I just have to hope I get a yield from the patch with only 3 compost.

Also if I exit the game will they continue to grow, or will I need to keep it running? Just they take a long time. I'm still in the tutorial I think, but it's halted until they grow.

Should I just start again and manage my gold better? I have saved 1k from the tutorials, but i bought a bunch of extra bank slots as well, as it keeps filling up.

PS: the farmers are at least 3 levels ahead of me, so don't want to fight them yet. should I just keep levelling up my combat and getting more shrimp to heal myself for the time being?

You don't need to compost anything in farming, using it though increases it's chance to survive during the process to harvest later, as they can die otherwise, using 5 compost would ensure that the crops grow guaranteed also

Farming is a the only unique skill that works along side others, you can plant anything and then work on another skill while things are growing, same as when offline/idle, your crops continue to grow as normal

You don't need to start over, as you level up various skills, you'll find great ways of making money

Combat wise, you can start by fighting plants at the Farmlands location, they'll give you potatoes to loot from and use that for healing, don't forget to equip them from your bank after looting, they don't equip automatically, or you can work on fishing/cooking for food for a safer experience

Chickens/Cows are often a good source of money early on, as they're lower level and offer feathers/leather that can be sold for large amounts in no time, while you get some of your combat levels up, don't forget to change your style of attack to level up Attack/Strength/Defence accordingly

If you started in Adventure Mode, which I doubt considering you're referring to money and you start with nothing so I don't think you are, but just in case, I don't recommend Adventure Mode just yet if you have started that, it's more advanced for players who know about Melvor Idle, not specifically Runescape as lots of features/items are different in comparison, I'd recommend Standard to start, Hardcore/Adventure later when you know what you are doing

I'm not sure what you mean by "messed up". Messed up by buying compost you can't use right now? Until you get enough mastery in farming, you're going to want to use max compost on everything so you will be using it eventually.

I just have to hope I get a yield from the patch with only 3 compost.
You will get some seeds from harvesting but, until you max out that particular item in farming, it will not be enough to self-sustain (so plan on collecting seeds from other sources until then).

Also if I exit the game will they continue to grow, or will I need to keep it running?
Everything progresses while offline, for up to 12 hours (combat requires a toggle I think, since you lose items if you die).

Should I just start again and manage my gold better? I have saved 1k from the tutorials, but i bought a bunch of extra bank slots as well, as it keeps filling up.
The only reason to restart is if you want to play one of the other modes. Why give up progress and start from nothing? You'll definitely want every bank slot possible... I have 450. I've heard some players have almost 800 and still almost use them all.

PS: the farmers are at least 3 levels ahead of me, so don't want to fight them yet. should I just keep levelling up my combat and getting more shrimp to heal myself for the time being?
What you fight in this game largely depends on your ability to survive a hit. Just fight whatever you want that won't kill you.

Thanks.

So if I have an axe equipped, should I select slash damage? or is this not linked?

I can see the stab, slash and Defence that I can switch between. Do I have to pick one of these depending on what weapon I'm using, or do I just want to level these all up please?

I just wasn't sure if I needed the gold for something in particular from the tutorials, and I spent a lot of it on a second plot of land and more compost.

It's cool though, I am making it back just by chopping wood and selling it.

I'm working towards buying the gem gloves then going to mine.

Use whatever attack type you want... just check how it changes your stats and pick whatever suits you at the time. I think attack is generally more important (so Stab) but you will certainly want to level them all up eventually since better weapons and armor require higher levels of those skills (and higher skill benefits you no matter what equipment you're using).

Thanks. I'm just getting used to what it all means.

Should I just leave astrology alone till later? I did a few levels and unlocked the second constellation. As I am not sure what any of it is for though, just decided to leave it and focus on making money and expanding my bank for now.

Also getting some seeds from birds nests as well, so will be able to use that compost soon enough.

Think it;s time I get that second monitor now as well. Will be great for playing this game and doing other things on the second monitor.

On the combat screen, you can view the stats via Accuracy Rating, which is your chance to hit, as well as Min/Max Hit of your current weapon, alternatively you can click 'View Equipment Stats' from the combat screen also via your equipment loadout tab, just above the headslot is the blue text 'View Equipment Stats', this will show you all the stats of your currently equipped items as well as your weapon stats via Attack Interval/Speed per action, Stab/Slash/Block bonus which refers to Accuracy rating

It's often best to use the best attack style for your current weapon to maximize chance to hit, but you can still train the other skills even if you don't have access to other weapons, work with what you, just know each type of weapon is only accurately good with one or two attack styles at most, never all 3

Stab: Attack Level - Increases Accuracy/Chance to Hit
Slash: Strength Level - Increases damage per hit passively for all melee weapons
Block: Defence Level - Increases evasion rating, less likely to be hit by enemies

The combat triangle also matters: Melee is susceptible to magic, so if you're facing magic and equipped with melee armor, you will get hit quite often

Thanks. I've noticed I tend to get hit a lot, so might be worth me levelling up Def for a bit maybe then?

I've only fought plants and basic Goblins so far though. Maybe my chance to hit is better to level up first, as if I land more hits I kill them quicker, ha ha.

Thanks for advice. Glad you told me about the triangle as I didn't know abut that.

I'm mostly just farming materials and selling them right now while I watch the new shovel knight on youtube.

Definitely going to invest in a 2nd monitor in the near future though. Will be great when I can have Melvor on one screen and watch stuff on a second screen.

Not just Defence & Attack helps, having of course higher level armor and higher level weapons equipped also have better stats to hit accurately, hit harder and of course with armor to have more evasion for being able to be hit less, you can often work up mining and smithing to make your own or if you get high enough, start killing the enemies in the castle region, starting of course with steel, although, drop chances are high for steel, when you move to black/mithril it gets harder based RNG for drop chances seem extreme and may take a while to get all items if that's what you aim for

Thanks. I will work on mining and smithing next. Just trying to get magic tree's. are they the unlock at level 45, or much higher?

I might just switch to mining and then smithing sooner so I can make some better gear.

I just left tree's on while I was out with the dog.

BTW do bird nests fall for certain types of tree's more often, please? they don't seem to be dropping from my current level (Teak)

on the left hand side where you see the skills, if you scroll down you'll see a tab called 'Other' which will show 'Completion Log', if you click that, select 'Skills' click on a skill to see what level unlocks what, the various other options in the tab from Mastery/Items/Monsters/Pets can be viewed for future content you wish to aim for

Also. I can't see "other" maybe it shows up later, or something.

I can find the tree types on the right hand side at the bottom though. maybe I have a slightly different UI in the basic mode?

Where ever your settings are, it's in the same tab, the trophy icon in that tab is the completion log where you will find all the useful info within the game

Other bonuses in the game to increase the nest drop chance, no particular tree has a better chance unless you use the bonuses from other means, basically saying all trees have the same base chance without any bonuses

Thanks. I must have just been unlucky then to not have any for a while.

Hoping to get a 3rd sweetcorn seed so I can plant them.

I got a tree seed from one nest, but can't use it yet.

Here's what I see via my game, but I also use the default mode, I haven't modified anything besides a few things in the UI but no scaling changed at all

Left side you can see my completion log
