Buy them from the shop.
You can check the wiki to see how to obtain most items in the game

Really? That's the only decent way? Wow, I would have thought they were a drop someplace

While you can fish them up as junk items that upgrade into bowstrings, it's far cheaper and more efficient to just buy them when it's meaningful to use them in any kind of serious way.

You'd have to drop them in huge batchs for that to be more efficient than cutting wood and crafting more bow frames.

They are so cheap to buy, it means you can use the time that you would have otherwise spent farming them as drops to do something else that you need. I don't see that it's so bad?

It has its advantages. I'm just pointing out that when you get something as a drop, you are getting it WHILE training a skill, so it serves two purposes and costs no cash

that's rarely true. Just "while training skill" is not enough either. For the price bowstrings are sold you would need to "while" train the top notch xp/hr monster anyway. And you don't do that because there are far more important things to get.

So even if it was dropped by some monster, you wouldn't farm it unless it's the only choice :) In which case they would just become much more painful.
