Gem Gloves vs. Mining gloves.

I am mining coal and wondering if its better to double my coal to level up smithing faster later. Or is it more worth it to buy gem gloves for the extra gems?

Gem gloves are really decent profit so I would recommend them.

I would wear gem gloves for gems (or profit, but gems, especially diamonds and emeralds to sorts, are much more valuable then the gold you get for them) and get more money from other sources (fishing at start is great).

Not sure where you are at, but if you don't have MIN 99 you might want to not mine coal at quantities. The often taken path is to mine mithril up to 99, get the skillcape that grants you coal everytime you mine something, and with that mine rune essences. That grants enough coal to process the mithril up to 99 smithing.
