Clarification on Leprechaun+Monkey synergy and new Thieving system

Does this synergy count NPC unique drops as common, or perhaps just the ones that are vendor trash?

I spent two days farming the Merchant, looking for his unique drop with the above synergy active. His item dropped shortly after I unequipped Monkey. When I noticed that its only use was apparently a high sale value I wondered if the synergy was automatically selling it before because if it is, then the player isn't being credited with the drop in the item completion list.

I use the synergy on a few NPCs and got NPC unique drops from Woman, Golbin Chief, Bob The Farmer, Knight, and Princess. If it was an issue then it was fixed immediately, or the NPC uniques are just so rare that you have bad luck on drop chances.

I figured that was the high probability, but when I saw a few auto-vendor sales hit 15+K, I got suspicious. Thanks for verifying!
